So the way this works is there is a loop of wire (a coil) in the mouse and the pad generates a magnetic field so that the coil picks it up and makes energy much like a generator... except flat and no moving parts... in stead of spining the magnets or armature around eachoter the magnets (mouse pad) alternates its poles to generate the power in the mouse.
Neat but thats some RF noise you just pumping out... weather or not that effects things near by (CRT) is what matters.
