i also have an antec notebook cooler.
it seems to be able to decrease temp under cpu ca 10C

but the connection is really bad.
it gets loose fairly soon
i have already changed the whole cooler once.
now i guess i have to rip it open and glue the darn connector in place

if you want a silent cooler you should opt for something else
because the antec is fairly noisy!

acasa has a fairly silent cooler although it is not so comfy to have on the lap.

but then many just put some empty cd boxes in each corner ...
very silent and very cheap...

the antec costs ca 35€ and acasa ca 40€

Modify Antec Notebook cooler for better cooling!

by mbmaniac » Wed Jan 12, 2005 8:11 pm

I bought an Antec Notebook Cooler on Ebay and saved $10-$15 on the retail price including shipping.

I purchased it after reading the modification information in the forum below:
http://notebookforums.com/archive/index ... 25241.html

It's a neat little device, but why would anyone expect this thing to work when you're sucking air from under the notebook? Wouldn't it make more sense to blow air on the underside of the notebook? I didn't use any of the fancy temperature measuring equipment discussed in the forum. I just went by the feel of my keyboard and listened for my notebook fan to cycle on and off. I noticed, the notebook fan hardly comes on with the fans reversed. Although this may well void the 3 yr. warranty, who cares? As long as I get the most bang for the buck!

Also, changing the orientation to match your notebook hard drive / cpu makes it work even better. Too bad the manufacturer doesn't suggest that in the literature that comes with it.
