Re: new gaming laptop - some questions
Thanks Err and Penguin! Those OriginPC laptops are insane! There is no limitation on the config ... I got up to $10,700 ... lol :) Good to know on the 6th gen i7 not being such a slouch compared to the 7th gen ones. I may indeed settle for 6th gen, Alienware are doing a promo on an i6 with GTX1070 w...

new gaming laptop - some questions
Hi all, It's that time again - gaming rig upgrade time :) I spent a good bit of time comparing and it seems to me like Alienware high-end gaming PCs give you the best bang for the buck this time round. I want to go high-end, but I don't want to go insane! :) Meaning: Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ GTX 1070 ...

Sorry, I think I got my values wrong: 1) on my laptop I download full speed 20Mbps from the Internet using my Wi-Fi connection (well, around 18.5 of the 20 available, but that rock solid) 2) however downloading from another computer on my LAN I only get 5Mbps Essentially I can download four times fa...

I want to play NHL on my PC ... what do I choose?
hi all, So I wanted to start my new gaming laptop (ASUS G75VX) get the latest version of EA's famous NHL series. But horror of horrors, I see the latest instalment available for PC is from the 2009 season, released in 2008. That's five years ago - will that even run on a Windows 8 machine with the l...

Slow Wi-Fi speeds
Hi all, Here's one I've always wondered about: How come that on my laptop I can download full speed with my 20Mb ADSL, but through the same router I get a max of 5MB file transfer speed from one computer to the other. So all my computers download full speed 20MB from the Internet, but using the same...

A few years back I would have taken week holidays and locked myself in with my new toy ... These days I don't even have time to open the box. lol :) Weeeeeeee...

Okay, here'0s my final list, one of these 3 it will be unless you guys have another magic suggestion :) http://www.asus.com/ROG/G75VX/ http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/qosmio/X870/X875-Q7390/ http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0NC.html Which is your fav? I still favour the ASUS but would add ...

Yhat looks like an impressive laptop! I hadn't seen this one in my googling - do you have a good review of this? Would you recommend it over the ASUS? It seems to have more HDD, more RAM and a BlurRay burner - but seems to lack the display port ... which I could probably live without if the machine ...

Thanks guys :) I spent all night reading reviews and at the moment it looks like I'll be settling for an ASUS G75VX-T4020H or G75VX-T4014H (probably not necessary). It does not have the pure gaming performance of comparable Alienware, Sager or Clevo, but it doesn't have the ridiculous pricetag eithe...

Ah! OK, that makes sense :) I'm surprised that even high end machines don't have 1TB discs yet - I guess that'll mean a lot of USB discs. *edit* I'm amazed that even the most expensive Alenware machines only have 500GB discs. What's up with that? That's just enough for windows plus a couple of games...

Need a top end laptop - any suggestions?
Hi all, I'm looking for a new top end laptop. It doesn't necessarily have to be for gaming, but I assume that top end gaming devices are also top end work devices. I do a lot of photoshop and some 3-D, so I assume that I will need the same specs as a gaming laptop - is that correct? It has to be bas...

Thanks for the great advice! I have all my data backed up on Separate drive, and my C drive only holds the operating system - file loss is not the issue. My main worry is that I have so many things like Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Studio etc which are huge installations and take literally hours and hou...
