Re: Insane new Lincoln 48-inch wide dashboard display
I might add that most "knobs" in newer cars don't physically connect to anything. They are just encoders that tell the computer what to do. Now in lower end cars the knobs are more than likely connected to the heat flap and diverter. And the fan switch is really the fan switch.

Re: My new mower has those new Michelin Tweel Airless Radial tires
Don't let dirt and mud build up in them and the will last a long time. My opinion I would keep the weight off them when parked just to keep them from getting a flat spot but maybe they are engineered and wont do that. Given that the rear tires are kinda responsible for deck height I would be worried...

Re: New SmartEveryDay series: Manufacturing
Yeah thats all prototype work. Nobody is doing that in industry yet. They are figuring it all out. Using robots like that is kinda a waste and making it more complicated when they could use a XYZ gantry with an rotating C axis end could be way more ridged for doing that. But its still a neat process...

That plant looks fairly new. There isn't an inch of dust on everything. Someone had to do the christening ceremony.

Most of this training is not available through any college. You need to go to a vocational center or get in on an apprenticeship. And there are not many places doing this any more. Tool and Die is the elite form of a machinist. Most of this is 1950's tech. EDM made a huge difference in speed and qua...

Off topic but you would think AI would have perfect grammar. Just give it the rules and off it goes.

Re: {pugsley} anyway to tell and be sure ? (sockets )
I mean you could use a regular chrome one... don't expect it to survive. I would use 6 point if possible. Worst that happens is the socket explodes so be aware of that. I have done it a few times off roading... and I have blown up a socket but I was expecting it. Hell I blew up a 32mm socket on a br...

Wow. I figured maybe it would be interference from a microwave oven given its location. I was close.

But CSS is the newer standard... they both have pros and cons. But you are correct there are more Tesla chargers out there so why not use them. I think that the cars will still have the standard port on them they are just going to include and adapter to use a Tesla charging station.

Great... just what the industry needs... MORE CONNECTORS!! This is Lightning vs USB C tier stupid. Just use the CCS standard. Or don't. I don't care.
