No Boot for SY-K7V Dragon+
I recently put my Dragon+ into a new case, and now it won't boot up. All fans and lights come on but there is no video or POST beeps. According to the manual, this means a possible short with the case. So I removed the board from the case and fired it up. Same result. Could it be a power supply issu...

So I tried the razor and alcohol method. I got most of the crap off the thing I got all of it off the part that makes contact with the heat sink. There is still some around the edges though. I dropped it in the board and put a nice new fan/heatsink on it. The computer comes on. All fans spin. Lights...

FX5200 8x vs. Ti4200 4x
Is the FX5200 8x better than a ti4200 4x? I have the ti4200 in my computer now, but just bought an FX5200 for a box I'm building for the kids. If the FX 5200 is better, I'll swap them out. The reason I ask is that my mobo is an ASUS a7n8x deluxe that supports 8x AGP, and the other board is an old So...

I would think that Dawn, while mild, would be next to impossible to completely remove from the chip. A soapy chip can't be good. The harsher solvents like acetone/fingernail polish remover may work, but I think they may do more damage than good. I may just havbe to suck it up and buy a new chip... :...

Cleaning CPU
I have an Athlon 1700+ that I was using in the first system I ever built. When I built it I didn't know too much about thermal paste or thermal tape/pads. So I used both. This, as it turns out, was not the correct thing to do. So anyway, when I upgraded my mobo and CPU, I removed the 1700+ to store ...

SATA converters
I am using SATA converters to utilize my 2 WD Spec. Ed. 80 gig drives. I do have them set up in a RAID 0 (stripe) configuration. So far everything is working great. I have a CD burner and another 80 gig drive on Primary IDE and a DVD drive and 40 gig hd on Secondary IDE. I had absolutely no issues w...
