heh I thought this was going to be a story like "I went to the store and bought a GF2 GTS but when I got home and some dastardly fellow had replaced the GTS with a goat blower!" But if you went in the store to buy one, then it is your own fault...

The only products I would say do that to are Smart and Friendly and 3dfx. Not your fault that they went under and refuse to support their products....

the nvidia drivers were mature at 5.xx too but when s3tc was added to 6.xx then big speed increases occurred. If the new betas have hsr and it works without too mny glitches then 20-30% in opengl would be a nice fishmas gift!

the e seies (100 fsb) work fine but there is no 1/4 pci divider so the eb (133 fsb) P3s may cause problems.

Reg try the Koss KTXPros from buy.com. $15+ shipping and they sound really good. The Grado SR60s are of course better, but 4x as much as well and also open can so not so good for keeping sound in.

LarryJoe: They bought their assets only: their technological patents and the combined knowledge of years of engineers. They didn't buy any of their liability (supporting the 3dfx cards with RMAs or driver updates). I am pretty sure that the multitexturing lawsuit 3DeFunctX had against NVIDIA had som...

Yeah I have played the TA demo a lot. I am not THAT impressed with the mods as I have played headhunters and one flag before. But having plenty of servers running the mod will be nice.

People keep saying that this is bad for consumers, but really 3dfx wasn't forcing nvidia to keep their prices low over the last year as far as I can tell. NVIDIA ONWED the value segment with the GF2 MX (a new phenomenon) without any real 3dfx choice until the V4 4500 was released much later. IMO the...

no not at all R_D. I also think that teh PC60 is a sweet case. $170 is a lot for a case, but not that much for an all aluminum case. Sounds like you got a deal. I was mostly just posting that Soldam case as geek pr0n; the attention to detail on it is incredible. Louvres for the fans, usb, sound, and...

If you like the Lian Li then you should LOVE this one. It seems to be amazingly well built and designed. I believe the exchange rate would make it over $500 though :/ Guste: I think stiltner is making the full tower, the micro LAN ox, and THEN the mid tower. So it might be a longer wait than you want.
