I'm taking a year or two off of University and working full time at a computer store of all places. If I stay for a couple years, my boss will pay for my education when I...

Laptop cooling

Well I've had this laptop for not even a week and I have the tweaking itch... I opened it up today, and noticed that there is a silvery thermal pad between the hsf and the cpu. Think I should slap some Arctic Silver on there? I'm thinking better cooling means longer battery life. It's a Gateway Solo...

Turning off display?

One of the APM features is to shut the display off after a certain period of time. However, you can tell your computer to go into standby immediately. My question is, is there a program or tweak that will allow me to shut the display off on demand? The reason why I'm asking is that my laptop (curren...

Anyway, I'd suggest the metal because it looks cooler, and stays put better, but I've never used either so what do I know. $100 hose for me baby ;)

lol I didn't expect you to describe in detail. I just meant for example: CD 1: / /setup/ /suse/images /suse/setup /dosutils ... CD 2 - CD 3: /suse/....whatever is left... Hmmm. I tried installing from the web in VMWare and it didn't pick up the nic card. Oh well I'll get these CDs burnt out and try ...

Doc, I believe his question was also "will that screw anything up", and not just "how do I"... Basterb, that should be fine. Partition magic does the same thing as the built in ntfs conversion tool. Just remember that you will no longer be able to access your winXP partition when...
