The dual core processor will preform better for multithreaded tasks. I mean a second virtual core of a cpu 400 mhz faster is going to be blown away by a real dual core, but of course you loose that 400 mhz for single threaded apps.

If your just doing MIDI work it would probably be fine, MIDI signals are pretty basic ... its when you get into needing good D/A converters and more I/Os that you really need a better card. Plus the X-Fi cards are pretty good in their own right.

Try AMDs RMA service and find out what happens. If their online forum rejects your request call them up and demand they let you send it for testings or some such. I don't know if they can test it for a factory defect after its died like that but you can try.

Soyo Dragon case. I liked it for the molded plastic design with the handel on top but it needed a windows +2 fans.

I played BF2 religiously for a while but I've gotten pretty sick of its problems and basically given up on it. I don't think EA has really made any games I am happy with.
