Re: Hard Drives - Power Settings

Thanks. I've never had issues either way but since I'm on a new build, I thought I'd try to be a bit more efficient.

Hard Drives - Power Settings

I'm curious. Should we leave our hard drives (spinners) on all the time or allow windows to power them down. I previously let them run 24/7. In my new build, I've let Window manage the power settings so far. I can hear the drive spin up and am wondering if that does more harm than just letting it ru...

Re: New PC Build

I have the 212 on my previous build. It's a great cooler. This is what the D15S looks like mounted. It's one of the best air coolers you can buy. Air is still the most reliable cooler. Even if the fan failed on this thing it would probably still cool to a point. From Legit Reviews. https://legitrevi...

Re: New PC Build

I think I might need to start to consider water cooling. Now that I look back at my last build, my fan is ridiculously large. I wasn't going to use it until I pulled that Noctua D15S out of the box at the store. I didn't want that much mass hanging of my board. There are potential downsides to a wa...

Re: New PC Build

Since I'm a bit of a digital hoarder, I found the installation files. It works fine. Office is installed. I'm not bringing over anything important until this runs for a few days. It's so much quieter that my other build. The case has rubber dampeners for the Spinners and sound deadening material on ...

I use PowerDVD for BluRays. It's possible to use VLC to play them but I could never get it to work.

Re: New PC Build

This is an M.2: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-1TB-MZ-V7E1T0BW/dp/B07BN217QG It's an SSD but it slots in directly to your motherboard. In the pics, you can kind of see it above the Video Card. The model I bought is called a NVMe PCIe and communicated through the PCI express. This removes the...

New PC Build

A friend at work wanted me to go to Microcenter in Columbus with him yesterday. He bought a new MB, processor, RAM, M.2, and CPU cooler. I got the same but also bought a case, power supply, Hard Drive, and spare video card (EVGA 1030). I didn't have too many hiccups. When I was connecting the power ...

Re: Watch This Tesla Model 3 Stop Itself To Avoid Horrific Crash

The batteries are the deal breaker for me because I put 40K miles on a car per year: Model 3 with Long-Range Battery - 8 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period. https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty 70% of a Lon...

I think 71 months is too lenient, especially since he threatened the couple with violence. I'm glad they got him though.

Re: Watch This Tesla Model 3 Stop Itself To Avoid Horrific Crash

That's amazing tech. I've been seriously considering a model 3 in a couple of years. I still drive 160 miles per day and I'm sick of buying gas and oil. The Model 3 LR AWD has a 310 mile range. I'd need to have an outlet installed in the garage but I found out you don't have to buy the Tesla Charger...

This is Obsidian's new game. It's single player and supposed to release this year. I'm really looking forward to this as this is the groups that did New Vegas.

This is a really good read about car culture in Japan. I didn't expect to see Classic cars running around Tokyo.
