Re: AC Vent Register Booster, improved cooling in my equipment closet

My file server (not in that photo, it's in my office closet) is just a Win10 Pro PC, with two 6TB spinners and a boot SSD. You don't really need a server OS, unless you have more than 10 simultaneous connections. But I want to keep up with Losbot ;) The problem that I mostly have is getting other d...

Re: AC Vent Register Booster, improved cooling in my equipment closet

Nice that you have everything labeled and with a diagram. My server is simply an older desktop with a couple of 4TB hard drives running windows 10. Not even sure how to set up a true home server. I would have to pay someone to do it.

Re: AC Vent Register Booster, improved cooling in my equipment closet

How long did it take to set all that up, or was it as you go you kept adding devices?

How much fun would that be to troubleshoot all those connections and cables.

I agree. These types of jobs are starter jobs for the young from high school and college. Working there, you realize that there must be something better out there to make a living.

Re: Best Buy’s Geek Squad hit by mass layoffs this week

Here in CA, I'm expecting fast food workers being layoff because of the mandatory pay increase to $20/hr. I visit Starbucks every Friday, and the gal there said that they have seen a reduction of 20% or more in traffic. When I go on Fridays around 7:30am, there was always a line in the drive thru. T...

Re: Allway Sync

Thanks for the heads up on this replacement. I still use Allway Sync, but if I can't get it to work when doing a fresh install, I'll switch over to this version.

Re: how things have changed !

If I'm correct, I remember buying my first 10 MB spinning hard drive for my IBM Clone with an 8088 CPU. I think I paid well over $100. Now they are getting really small and fast. Getting older makes it more difficult to keep up with how fast technology changes.

Re: replacement headlights !

That sucks. Reminds me of my Asus ROG G751JT gaming laptop. In order to replace the battery, you have to remove the palm rest, remove the LCD screen, remove the right side fan, and several motherboard screws just to lift the motherboard up enough to remove the battery. If you think that is bad, on t...

Re: wife just bought are grandson a camera - cant fine it in windows 11 pro

I decided to reinstall 10 and now it works. Looking back, I think it may have been due to the Shutup10 install. Installing 10 as UEFI was a pain in the ass. I could not get the BIOS to show the boot option when pressing F12. I finally got it to work by leaving the USB stick in the slot then rebooted...

I did! I set VLC as the default video player and the popup window never happens or the movie never auto plays.

Re: wife just bought are grandson a camera - cant fine it in windows 11 pro

I don't know. I'm also having a weird issue with a Dell Inspiron 17 5759. After a fresh install of Windows 10 Home and having all the drivers updated via Windows 10 update, I can't get it to pop up a window asking how to open the DVD movie. I have VLC installed, and with all the laptops I've fixed, ...

Yeah I just downloaded the newer version yesterday. I wish there was an option to check hard drives via a USB connection.
