bass response does have to do with the placement of the sub, material is sits on, etc. Try different locations for the best response. There might be an EQ plug-in available from someone, and I have seen EQ/Radio Tuner units that fit in a 5drive bay in the front and look like a cheap car unit. I'll b...

would have to agree with the entry level note. I bought this kit thinking it was a super deal for $149. however, the 12x/40x DVD drive is WAY overstated in speed - tested at 15x CD-ROM with sandra2000(and a yugo could go 300 with a booster rocket). the dxr3 (hollywood) card caused problems in APMS i...

great parts so far, looks like you've done your homework. System building is fairly easy, as long as you follow simple rules. Cooling is a huge issue. Thermal compound, I've had good luck with arctic silver (comp store), and even standard thermal grease (radio shack). Make sure the surfaces are clea...

thanks, that did clear the *beep*beep* error - the setting on cpu speed error is disabled by default, but I had to confirm it before it would boot. now, I can't seem to get the multiplier to change. The mult. is 5.5 standard for this CPU. Whenever I change it in softmenu III, it goes back to 5.5 at ...

with an Alpha in place of the stock cooler finally - I changed my CPU speed setting in BIOS - saved it - and... *BEEP*BEEP* - processor changed or unworkable - see softmenu tried it twice more - at 866/133 with my retail 733 PIII Coppermine - (Vcore showing 1.68v @ 733) -no results. well they make i...

posting that last reply - I totally forgot the fan voltage switch @ http://www.nerdsbyte.com for $9.99US Thanks for the tip - this is a great idea, and super easy to install. It switches the fans to about 60% power, increasing their life, and reducing the noise (and cooling) of the fans. I think act...

Hey zak no doubt - what's with the blade number? *grin* (noise) I think I found the holy grail in "hot vs. noisy" - I spent most of today researching every option possible. Then I ran across a few things. A fan speed/temp controller that's about the size of a writing pen cap, made by contr...

I'd have to go with hammer's suggestion - coolermaster ATC-200. This thing is running cool and quiet (considering there's 4 80mm YS case fans) - room temp while running sandra2001 loop. I've been looking into a fan speed/temp controller the past few days. Anyone interested might want to check out ht...

new to the place - how goes it people? I'm building a system again, done the homework and it's built, now for the settings. Looks like I'll be spending some time here, and I'll try to offer what I can.

Next step for me is CPU speed settings and config details - wish me luck!

that said - maybe the bay cooler should be mounted in the top most bay for best effect - heat rises. As far as fans go - you want to make sure that the volume of the intake and exhaust cfm equal each other within 5-10%. And I would say lazy air probably won't help air flow, so the empty openings in ...

is there airflow at the holes you're concerned with? they could be disturbing airflow inside the case without fans, but it's doubtful. usually if it was a concern the engineers would've left them semi-closed like a new drive bay. great case, by the way - I ended up with a cooler master for space and...

New to this forum, it was good reading so I registered. How high can I OC my new retail PIII Coppermine 733? The system is new, and I really don't feel like finding out the hard way. I also keep seeing copper shims talked about, and I haven't run across any - they help? I'm running an Alpha on the C...
