If you are going for 1GB of RAM, go with 2 512MB sticks. It will give you dual channel and a theoretical increase in memory bandwidth. I've benched a system with and without dual channel and there was a difference.

.jar is a bad sign.....most likely means that there is no source code only compiled files. That means it would take a decompiler to get the source code from it. I've done some intermediate Java coding. I've dealt with File I/O and the ability to save her progress should be easily done. I can take a look if you want. Is the file a .java or a .class or a .exe?
