Seems to be secure enough. The passwords are encrypted and kept on your computer - not their servers. The software is stand alone and runs on your computer. I did a lot of research on the newsgroups and found no indication that Roboform installs spyware. It even imports your data from Gator if you s...

Fair warning: this might not be a good idea if you're sharing file and printers.

Also, can't find ANY reference at all to doing this ong google or the newsgroups.

You sure it's not a SCSI driver issue? Seems to me that if SCSI was that broken in XP, IT departments would be howling like mad dogs.

Case fans are pretty standard and are measured in millimeters. If it's an exhaust fan it's probably 80 x 80mm.

Those of you with a LOT of passwords, here's a Gator replacement with no spyware...

For those who don't know, Gator is a free internet download that memorizes passwords and logo scripts for web pages. It also will automatically enter your credit card and mailing info into forms. It is, however, one big spyware vehicle (and sneaks in some really buggy spyware to boot). I have some c...

Well actually it called Simple File Sharing - I keep saying sinple networking too. Well from what I've been reading it's possible. There's this reference here for instance: http://www.winbookcorp.com/_technote/WBTA20000876.htm Then again this article says it only works in Pro: http://www.petri.co.il...

Time for this year's Stella Awards (more proof that lawyers are scum)...

It's time once again to consider the candidates for the annual Stella Awards. The Stella's are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonalds. That case inspired the Stella awards for the most frivolous successful lawsuits in the United States. T...

No real performance difference. XP will be better supported from now on and also seems to have better native support for certain hardware (like my problem with the CompactCard reader). Win2K is a leaner and less bloated OS but sooner or later MS will force us all to upgrade anyway. They just won't s...

That reg hack does work, and best of all it brings back the EXACT same file search window from Win2K. The way it prints on this forum the registry entry is shown on two lines, but you should be able to figure that out. Here's the link to TweakXP entry that I got it from: http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak...

By duct, do you mean your system has a duct over the CPU heatsink? Some computers like Dells don't have a fan attached to the heatsink - instead there's a duct over it and an exhaust fan on the back. Yes the fans should all be spinning - if it's not the fan is bad or it's become unplugged. You'll ov...

ps what did you do with the old lappy? Old lappy's going in the garage as a workstation on my workbench when I get around to running RJ45 out there (is 75 feet away from the house - have to dig a trench). The battery is going to my cousin who has the same laptop. The rest of it is spare parts for h...
