Replace your ribbon cables. They build up corrosion over time. Check you power cables goin to the drives. A loose power pin will cause the drive to behave erratically and corrupt it. NEVER connect a HDD to one of those pass-through jumpers uses on case or heat sink fans. Invariably those jumpers use...

Whether it's officially supported or not, it'd still be overclocked wouldn't it? There's NEVER a good time to buy - something bigger and better is always around the corner. I've been perfectly happy with this P3-1000 for 2 years and could live with it for another 6 months. All my games run fine. Sur...

The P200 was NOT overclockable if I remember. I know the 166 was - it would easily clock to 200 and most people suspect it was a 200 that failed quality control. Besides, it wouldn't make much of a difference. Only thing that will help is adding more memory IF he currently has less than 64 Mb. If it...

Nice tech support from Visiontek!

The fan on my GF3 Ti-200 video card is seizing up. I've bought a week - maybe - by lubricating the hell out of it, but it's shot.

Emailed Visiontek and gave them the card's part number and serial and they're mailing a replacement fan out ASAP.

Nice of them.

I'm a big Farscape fan, but the game demo looks like a loser....

Downloaded the Farscape demo today.... Deer Hunter II has better production values. What' the point of making a game of a TV show when you can't even recognize the face of the lead character (could be John Crieton, could be Al Gore - can't tell, not enough polys and a damn poor texture map)?

Any of you who travel outside the country will relate to this. I went to Jamaica once, and there's a beautiful waterfall called Dunn's River Falls that you can hike up the falls. It's gorgeous but the rocks are slippery, there's no hand-holds, people are slipping and falling. The guides are very nic...

That's a standard size ATX under there (an Asus P3B-F I believe) and the mobo's top edge is 1/4" from the sheet metal wall that the HDD caddy is mounted on. Considering the layout of the IWill, the CPU will be right under the HDD caddy. Might look crowded, but that's really a VERY roomy case (t...

Hmmm..... Asus. Don't get me wrong, they make VERY nice hardware, but I swore I'd never buy another Asus product after the foisted the "See-Through Technology" Geforce drivers on us. Too tall, Jimz. That Alpha is 45mm tall all by itself without the fan. Here's a photo of the inside (notice...

Well I really like the Ti-V77L - it's low profile and I've DEFINATELY got a problem there. It's also inexpensive at $18. I doubt the Zalman's would fit - it'd be a very close call. Most reviews I've read are in line with what you said, Blade. It's apparently very solid and doesn't vibrate, and there...

I've had two of them. they are damn noisy. Hmm... reviews don't say it's stealthy, but they've said that it's less noisy than the retail fan. I rather liked the attachment method. I'd like to hear some more recommendations on a QUIET heatsink-fan for an Athlon XP. I'm also concerned that some HSFes...

Doubt I could wait that long now that I've made up my mind, and frankly I'm VERY leary of new chipsets. I like something tried and true (heck, I haven't built a system using anything but the Intel BX chipset for the past 3 years because it's a ROCK). Performance is less of an issue than stability. R...

Ghost is a DOS program and can't save image files to NTFS partitions because it can't see them (they're non-DOS). It can still, however, make or restore an image of an NTFS partition, or copy an NTFS partition just fine. This is something to keep in mind if you need to do large image backups and wan...
