Go see Kill Bill....

If you watch one of those Kill Bill movies (the first one, I think), they focus on the art of sword making. It's a very specialized trade. If you are successful though, nobody will mess with you in school or work! :D

So if you have 1" thick metal, and just three teeth are in contact with it (meaning rather large teeth on the blade), you'll be just fine? Maybe you need a certain number of teeth per inch of blade, and that number depends on what type of material you are cutting. How about that?

Sometimes our efforts don't seem worth it. Five years from now you'll be glad you did it. That is, of course, if nothing exciting happens to you between now and then....

Is this what you mean?

I haven't used one. Is this a good picture of what you are talking about?

I've decided to temporarily forgo some more expensive solutions, like a scrolling LED or LCD display in the keyboard frame. I need to save some money to pay for my Screaming Eagle slip-on mufflers purchased last week for my Harley Fat Boy. So, I used one of my green EL wire kits (made by XG Extreme ...

Install Linux on them and turn them into Internet browsers. Problem is, you need monitors to go with them. A Pentium II can certainly open web pages if the Internet connection is decent.

Also look into the screensavers you are running, and if you are folding, disable it's screensaver. Check your power management options too - if you turn off the hard drives, it might lead to a lockup condition.

No keys are the keys to my success...

That's right. It's no longer a functioning keyboard. I went and bought a small USB 'laptop style' keyboard to keep on my work bench. This Sun keyboard is now a display frame that goes above the chassis hanging on the wall. ::

Well, that cold cathode tube is a purple one, so I'm on track there. The last picture shows that I've cut the whole area out, so it's not a matter of putting the keyboard back in there - this is now a sort of "picture frame". I want to spell out the "Sun X-Terminal" in big letter...

What about the keyboard? Hmmm....

I just couldn't call the Sun X-Terminal Mod complete without modding the keyboard that came with it. So I have begun a project that is coming together in my mind as I start cutting. My concept is basically to spell out "Sun X-Terminal Mod" in a piece of plexiglas that is inserted where the...

Originally posted by rndmtask Nice case, of course it would have been nice to put everything in that lower sun thing. Too bad AMD doesn't make any mini ITX boards or procs for those. I think if you put the free solaris x86 on there then you may be able to talk sun into letting you use their logo. Y...

Don't do that...

....put in a few window mods. Add some cold cathode tubes along the window edges. Make some type of custom cooling configuration with 120mm fans and air ducts. Call it "Overkill", and then tell the admirers that it's only a 486 CPU running MS-DOS. Someday I'm gonna mod my old Osborne Execu...
