Re: Shader Compilation and Why It Causes Stuttering, Explained

Hogwarts Legacy took a long time to compile the shaders too. I thought the game had locked up.

Re: $6600 Nightmare Prebuilt Gaming PC - Corsair & Origin Genesis Review

I can almost forgive the paint job. It's not easy to do right. A lot of companies that used to offer custom paint jobs gave up for the same reason. But the clock speed? The fans? That's just not cool. Whoever did the cable management, though, THAT guy deserves some kind of award. In order to do the...

I don't understand why there are so many fans. LOL I'd think a single 140 at the top would be sufficient to pull any excess heat from the MB. I doubt you'd need any intake fans.

Re: Anyone else notice how Amazon is defaulting you to long shipping times?

I wondered why what I ordered yesterday wasn't going to arrive until next week when it was shipping from Amazon. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Samsung Pro SSD reliability questioned as longtime partner shifts to Sabrent

I have 2 980 Pros. One as the main drive in my PC and one in my PS5. The one in the PC has the latest firmware and is showing plenty of life. However, Samsung needs to release a statement stating what the issue is. Are the drives failing from bad firmware or is the firmware reporting wrong? I hope f...

That is really neat. This version would be ideal for running equipment where Internet access isn't required.

Re: NVIDIA's Rip-Off - RTX 4070 Ti Review & Benchmarks

Yikes! It seems this generation of NVidia cards should be skipped unless you positively need a new card. I saw a story about AMD's 7xxx Reference Cards running too hot but AMD is supposedly trying to get feedback to address the issue. I've been happy with my 3080 12G - I was running the game High On...

Re: Aida CD Mat

The CD Lathe actually received an award somehow: http://www.ultrasystem.com/usfeaturedprodsAudioDeskDCutterReview.html I generally take Audiophile reviews with a grain of salt but this is ridiculous. Like the disc mat above, you can measure noise, frequency response, jitter, etc. but none of the rev...

Aida CD Mat

I was looking at sale items at Music Direct and came across this little gem of snake oil. https://www.musicdirect.com/equipment/accessories/marigo-aida-cd-mat/ http://marigoaudio.com/aida-cd-mat/ Marigo's CD mat features material-technology upgrades that result in an even quieter noise floor, greate...

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT(X)series GPU announcement

https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt(x)-preview.html These could be amazing as long as the reviews support the hype. Aside from being $500 cheaper than NVidia's 4090, these cards sill use 2 x 8 pin connectors. Like, NVidia they have AV1 encoding baked into the card. If you ha...

Re: NVIDIA Cancels the RTX 4080 12GB After Backlash

I'm happy with my 3080 12G so I'll be skipping this generation anyway. However, it seems like a mess of a launch.
