FINALLY got Vietcong installed.

It likes my new rig. Just played through the first couple of missions. Like the foiliage and jungle cover. Interesting atmosphere. Tried a multiplayer game but they had the crosshair turned off on the server and didn't have time to play anything else. Now if I can just tear myselft away from Tour of...

Pull ALL your cards except the video card (make a note of which slot each one was in - you don't want to move them around unless you have to), see if it locks up. If not, install each card ONE BY ONE. Start with the SBLive as it's the likely culprit (although it may be that it has a conflict with an...

Slow network browsing fix for WinXP...

This one's been posted before, but I just ran across the problem while setting up my new workstation, and someone else might find it useful. Both XP and 2K have a bug that causes them to pause (sometimes for a VERY long time) when first browsing a network resource. It's particularly annoying since I...

What mobo? I had problems with my DVD on an IWill XP333. It suffered from intermittent data corruption when using the onboard IDE controller. I had to buy a Promise ATA133 card just for the DVD burner.

Your drive bezels really go incredibly well with the case! Couldn't give a rat's behind. :) My computers are NOT for looks, they are for work and play. I've never understood this obsession with dressing up a computer. It's a tool. I really don't care what color the tool is, or whether it's flecked ...

Latest BIOS. I just double checked. In Bios there's a setting called "AC97 Speaker at POST" setting which IS disabled, and I do NOT hear the POST beep through the speakers. However once Windows boots, the mobo speaker channel in the mixer is apparently enabled. There HAS to be a way of dis...

This mobo has the mobo speaker wired into the onboard sound card. I use Lotus Organizer for appointment scheduling and it's setup to play a sound on the mobo speaker as an appointment reminder (I do this because I usually have headphones plugged in so a WAV file reminder is useless). The problem is ...

I like Dell a lot, and if it wasn't for the fact that I also use this for a gaming rig I would probably buy a Dell as well.

I recommend Dells to my clients all the time. Nice quality builds.

You can also get some fabulous deals on their refurbs.

Now all we need is a small anti-matter reactor and we can lose the tether.... Seriously, it comes down to a power to weight ratio and there's no way anything that small can run for any length of time with any power source available. But if we want to play around with What-If scenarios.... - NOISE: Y...

Anyone with an Epox 8RDA+ know how to turn off the system speaker audio in the mixer?

I can hear the beeps coming from the system speaker through my sound card speakers. It's annoying the crap out of me.

I've disabled the feature in BIOS, and there's no slider for the system speaker in the Windows mixer or the NForce audio application.

WTF?

Exactly. They've been promoting this crap for 15 years. A guy had a working prototype back then but it was tethered to an electric cable.

Bottom line is you can forget about it unless someone discovers practical fusion power in a small container...
