Re: Look what came out of MS on 9/20/23

Here is the workaround. I've already used it twice on some Dell laptops that only had Windows 7.

Re: Finally upgraded my phone

Is there any way to hide the updates you don't want to install or upgrade? On my old Samsung S9, I always had about 10 updates that I never upgraded, but there was no way to hide them. You mentioned that you can reinstall an older version of an app that you have a backup of. I did not know that was ...

Re: Finally upgraded my phone

After I got home and connected to WIFI, I had almost 30 updates. I don't update everything listed, so I have about 20 left that I'm not updating. I have no use for AI Wallpaper as an example.

Finally upgraded my phone

From a Samsung S9 to a Google Pixel 8 Pro.

I had a small challenge in moving my music files over because they were stored on the micro card in the Samsung phone. I had to connect my S9 to my PC and copy the files off the micro card to the PC. Then connect the Pixel to the PC and copy them over.

Re: Testing CMOS Batteries CR2032

I still have the battery, and what I did was to test it again with the Fluke DMM while I watch the readings. They continue to decrease while I was testing it. So I'll have to remember this next time when checking them. If they start to drop in voltage, they probably need to be replaced.

I found an alternate method using FireFox. Open in a new private window.

Testing CMOS Batteries CR2032

This is puzzling to me. I bought 2 used Dell laptops cheap because when powered on, the Dell logo would briefly be displayed and then the laptop would shot off. After I disassemble the laptop, one of the checks I do is the CMOS battery using a Fluke DMM. The CMOS battery shows 2.9 volts. So I contin...

Re: Bitlocker on Windows 11 Home

Yeah what I did was to encrypt my important documents I have on this laptop, using a 15 character password. I also learned that Acronis will disable Bitlocker if detected before doing a backup.

Bitlocker on Windows 11 Home

I took a trip back east a few weeks back, and I was a little concerned in taking my laptop with me. I have Windows 11 Home, and I guess the option for Bitlocker is not available on the Home version which is crazy. Why would MS do this to home users? After some reading, they say having the Pro versio...

Re: New Freeware Detects Fake USB Drives with Inflated Capacity

Yeah I found a couple in my stash that were bought as USB2, but running the utility, it takes forever for it to finish on a 2GB drive. My guess is they are actually USB1 drives.

Re: Doom Eternal & Doom 2016

I think it probably deserves it praises, but this is way too fast for me. I was looking for a fun power-fantasy to kill demons, but I felt overwhelmed and exhausted after a few minutes. I guess, I am truly too old for this game now 68 years old. I even have it set at the easiest setting. It would ha...

Doom Eternal & Doom 2016

Finally had a chance to play Doom Eternal. I must say the graphics are excellent, but I'm not that excited about the game play. I feel that Doom 2016 reminded me more of the original Doom game from the late 90's. Also, Doom Eternal has too many pop-ups which are very annoying while playing. I also d...
