potential trolling?

Post by IKilledMyAGOIA »

looking for a nice vid card for a decent price - this guy's offer of a geforce 4 ti 4200 for $100 seemed nice...

however - his heatware has 2 evals, both from people with no other evals themselves... suspicion #1

offered the ti for $110 first and then changed to $100 with a smile... suspicion #2

when i asked about sending via paypal.. he offered a yahoo email diff from the one i was talking to him on - said it was his brothers - suspicion #3

when i asked for a MO address, offered his own, even after saying his bro was the one who had the card... suspicion #4

anyone heard of anything about this guy?
emails he has given are rulepunk1@yahoo.com, geforce_guy@yahoo.com
ID is rawkcasbah on Athlon XP forums
says name is Aaron Nelson, lives in
8170 SW 129th TERR.
Beaverton, OR 97008

this sound like any usual trolling?
is this a "screw it - buy from newegg" situation? or do you think I'll be okay?
sent messages to his heatware evals and to a few guy on my forum who might have bought from him, still waiting for responses

sorry about the long-winded post, but im a bit of a newb myself and im trying to be a safe newb who either has $100 or a geforce 4...

trying to listen to this guy- - - To newbies, Ask around on any you are not familar with and are considering to send first, to get an idea about their practices.

Run away from this one. It smells and it smells bad.

Three different users, all with free email addresses, and none of them but one has any established HeatWare. One of the trades supposedly took place at AnandTech but only rulepunk1 is a member there.

He's only recently joined, has two posts and he's not even showing his profile as per forum rules.

Take my advice and avoid him. I'll almost guarantee you'll be sorry.

smells rotten to me

My advice is the same. Run, run as fast you can away from this one. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't. You can get a geforce4 ti 4200 for a little more from a reputable dealer. Spend the extra bucks and be safe.

Edit: Yeah go NewEgg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Website to record problem traders

Post by RyeDog »

Folks; I was just browsing through and saw all of the trader warnings. That's good info that obviously was gotten by people getting stung. I'll definetly keep an eye on this thread.

Uh...

Post by Xonitex »

Hey there. My name is Dennis Lam, A.K.A. Xonitex, and apparently I'm one of the 'evil' traders...er...

Okay. I really have no idea what you guys do, but I'm posting here just to let you know that "Xonitex" and xonitex@pacbell.net and dl.xonitex are my screennames, and I'm not a warez trader or whatever. I definitely know that someone out there with the same name I have because several months ago I was contacted by a Mr. Bob Moessner (I think that's his name, at least) who thought I was your evil guy and demanded his money back after he got jipped. We sorted things out, and he told me that there was someone in Southern California (I live in Northern California, near SF) who was ripping people off illegal stuff (warez?).

Okay, so the point of this post is to tell you guys that "Xonitex" and "dl.Xonitex" and "xonitex@pacbell.net" are actually my aliases and e-mail. "mylam" and "Xonitex@hotmail.com" are NOT what I use, and could belong to the person you're talking about...however, all the other Xonitex's should be me. This is weird, because the whole reason I made up Xonitex was so that it could be original. Zonite became Xonite became Xonitex. I'm a genius!

Also, if you see this guy using my name, could you e-mail me or something? I have the feeling that this guy is going to get me into a lot of trouble...thanks a lot.

Oh yeah, and you can ignore Criss_Cross too. I used that name on the MSN gaming zone YEARS ago...I don't know how anyone could link it to me.

Yes, he did. Here it is--I'm speechless. [EDIT]Wait! I have to add this though, he's listed 5 items to eBay since June 4th. Apparently his computer works well enough to go through the whole eBay listing process, but NOT well enough to respond to email...

"Akinsey, why am I being harrassed by you? I sent off the item the next day. I have been computer frozen and had little time when I did get on. Why haven't I contacted you? I finally got everything. You should have gotten it and I don't even know if you did or didn't. I sent it out regular usps and didn't get tracking because I had already sent it after I got your e-mail to get tracking. You had violated my privacy on the web and with ebay which is against the law. You should have patience before accussing someone of something. I'm an honest person and you can check out my feedback on that. 50 out of 50 positive feedbacks."

He provided a tracking number to Paypal, after stating in his email to me and Blade that he did NOT get tracking for this item, which looks like this:
284848US
This is not a valid tracking number.
