"ugliest Girl" and cruelty

Doe she look ugly to you? Even if she does then why humiliate her, tease her and make her feel so bad.
http://www.charlotte.com/0110girllaw.htm

"Last February, Alison got mononucleosis and was absent for two weeks. When she returned to school, one teacher, in front of a class, put his shirt over his nose and mouth and said to Alison, "Get away from me, I don't want to get mono," according to the lawsuit.

Students also taunted her about the illness. One said, "I don't know how you got mono. You're so ugly, no guy would ever kiss you," the suit said.

About the same time, her name appeared again on a Web site identifying her as "the ugliest girl at Agoura High School," the suit alleged. The Web site, once used by San Fernando Valley students to anonymously hurl insults at one another, was shut down in March by its site provider."

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - A 17-year-old student who was named on the Internet as the "ugliest girl" at her school has sued her former school district, claiming officials did nothing to stop "the escalating pattern of sexual harassment" by other students.

Sophomore Alison Goller quit Agoura High School after "the taunting became unbearable," according to the lawsuit.

Alison was teased at first about her appearance, then accused of promiscuity, the suit alleged.

After a bout of mononucleosis, Alison returned to school last February to more taunting from classmates and a teacher, prompting her to leave the school.

"People really do mean things in high school," Alison said in an interview. "I'm really surprised nobody has brought a gun to school at Agoura," which is about 30 miles west of downtown Los Angeles.

People can be so cruel and uncaring. :( Seems many do not care at all if they scare someone for life.

Hmmmm... I remember high school... and if my memory serves me right that girl is probably drop dead hot but is just a littler taller or dresses in a different style or holds a different viewpoint that she isn't afraid to express... and she probably refuses to sleep with popular idiots..

LOL, the follow the leader sheep crowd hate people like her.

high school is stupid like that and so is lifeI suppose. I don't wear the crap others wear and I have felt how people treat me differently. Thats why I don't have a ton of friends. The friends I have are those that didn't judge me by what I wore at first and actually just talked to me and got to know me. Those are the types of friends I want anyway... Screw all the rest of the shallow minded immature kids. Maybe they'll grow up in college and actually become young adults...

She ain't bad lookin' to me. As vwkess said, if she's the ugliest there then I'd like to see the rest of the student body ;)

No kidding. Kids just don't realize or understand what they do can effect others for life. But then the schools should make them aware of those type actions better too and the effects they cause.

My school was the same. If you were poor then you got frowned upon and were ignored. If you wore glasses or just looked a bit different they made fun of you. Then the typical lame bullies, etc... Every school has these problems but you'd think by now they would have figured out ways to stop them. These thing can and do scare some for life.

But most kids don't care and sadly most schools don't either.

It's only AFTER you get out of school and grow up a tad that you realize just how much shit like that affected you.

Many in school are very cruel and too immature and/or stupid to realize the effects of their harrassment on others. As mentioned here, it's no wonder to me either why some of these kids snap. Things like that effect people for life too as they often never get over it.

If that's the girl, she's not even ugly IMO. I remember a few very ugly girls in HS and if they weren't openly harrassed, they were ignored with bad things mentioned behind their backs. As far as sex goes, it's funny how it's normal, excepted and OK for males to have sex with anything that moves but if a female has sex EVER and word gets out (even if untrue), then she's a "slut" or "whore" (unless she's YOUR GF that is).

Kids taunt, insult, humiliate, and destroy the lives of peers not just like them. Then they wonder why that "nerd" shows up with an AR-15 and blows them away.

Then, the schools punish the geeks for being made fun of and emotionally scarred. Way to go, system! Nothing like solving a problem by further oppressing oppressed!!!

why do people make themselves out to be " sick " - for the want of a better word. :mad
One should not be sincere in what one says - sincerity is an unpardonable mannerism of style.
