Many other countries during that time aided Iraq also. The knowledge that Iraq was using chemical weapons was no secret at all. Where do you think Iraq got the supplies from? Certainly all the Gulf states supported Iraq with big money cause they afraid Iran would spread its Islamic revolution to their countries. Rather ironic since Iraq later invaded Kuwait and threatened to invade Saudi Arabia.
