Bailing out the basement AGAIN

Post by mritz »

N.E. Ohio has been getting slammed this year with rain!
It cant just rain we have to have these down pours 2" in a hour tonight :(
We installed new carpet in the Wife's craft room which is in the basement and the room has
flooded 4 times now in the last 2 mo's
Insurance company is going to love me "NOT" so far we have the new carpet in craft room runined
2 doors are warped so bad they no longer shut properly :( carpet in family room is puckering and bunching up from all the moisture in the basement 2 sheet's of paneling in the stairway are so warped
it looks like they will fall off the wall :(
not to mention all the furiture that has been exposed to all this
We cant fix any of this because it wont stop raining long enough..we just get everything dryed out and BAM it pours again !! 1st time we were on Vacation and my 24yr old son found the basement flooded it has been non stop since then.
I have lived in this house for 20yrs and have never had flooding like this normaly with a real real heavy rain we get some leaking in the laundry room but the ground is so saturated now and the rain is comming down with such force it just goes everywhere :(
So for the last 4 hrs we have been using the rug scrubber to suck up water from the carpets to try to keep it some what dry and it has been a loosing battle until about a hr ago when the rain finaly stopped.
Well time to get back to it :(

It rained so hard and fast here I could not tell where my Koi pond ended and the yard started :(
Had to go out after the worst of it and see if any of the little guys ended up in the yard
ThankFully they were all safe and sound :)

Yea, thank god we just got our basement fixed. I live in North West Ohio, Defiance to be exact. We got a bit of rain today as well, knocked the power out a couple of times. I just love having to pick up tree branches and limbs and stuff after high wind. I live in the middle of an 8 acre woods, so I've got a lot of tree branches to pick up and it sucks. But yea, I used to have to bail out the basement, but not anymore thank god! You can keep that mess cause I don't ever want it back!
I want to make a puzzle with like 40,000 pieces. And when you're finished, it says something like "Go Outside"
