I was just discussing this with the wife recently. I haven't seen a really interesting movie poster in a long time.

Yup, creativity is no longer rewarded. So what are we surrounded by? Mounds of crap. Before there was crap but a lot of great artwork too. Now we just get crap to sift through in order to find the gold shavings.

Guess I never really studied movie posters as one usually only sees them while walking down a hallway in a theater.
Can't say I'm surprised if artwork or originality has decreased with them. Those of us old enough remember when LPs had very good and original artwork too (late 60s-70s mostly) but that went away with CDs and now MP3s as the album art is now too small to really warrant that much creativity anymore.
