Wraithlord:
No (but you're getting VERY warm)
no

Darkheart: No.

ok, since leaving no clues but what answers are from the yes/no questions, I have 6 clues to give away(total), 2 each time. Hope they help.

Today's clues:
His suicide has to do with his wife.
If he hadn't eaten the Albatross, he wouldn't have killed himself.

Also as another small clue, I'm posting the start of the version of the story I read, (to show that there are small differances, but not enough to change the storyline, and showing that some of the details everyone was focusing on was not needed to keep the story going):
A man sits down at a restaurant and orders a plate of Albatross (a large seagull). After tasting it, he proceeds to pull a gun out of his pocket and shoot himself in the head.

Did he try to drown her, then when he sat down to eat, saw her approaching the restaurant and realised he failed?

uh, no.
I'd say someone is losing patience with this thread.

Since I didn't get anymore questions, I'm posting the next two clues early:
The man liked to travel.
He thought he had eaten Albatross before.

Not losing patience at all. Just trying to figure it out.

Was his wife's name Albatross?

I heard of another version. I still don't know the answer though.

Two men were shipwrecked out in the ocean for a few months and they finally found a place where food was available (say a restaurant on an island). One of the two men ordered an Albatross pie (ok, Albatross is a giant sea bird for those who don't know). After this man had eaten the Albatross pie, he became so distressed that he went and jumped off a cliff and died. The question is, why did he jump off the cliff?

I'm guessing he and wife shipwrecked together, had to eat dead wife to survive, went to restaurant, ate the pie, (albatross), having eaten albatross pie with wife while shipwrecked, and the memories of eating wife also, went off deep end and offed himself :D

For those of you who want to give it a TRY still, here are the last two clues:
The Albatross did not taste like he thought it would.
The man was overcome with guilt before he killed himself.

sethpa:You know, I think you couldn't get much closer to the story if you tried! (Of course, Speck's "hint" could have played a big part of it.)

Here is the solution Warning: Story is sorta Graphic!

Story is as follows:
While travelling at sea, the man (who was a police officer) and the wife were shipwrecked on a deserted island. The man and his wife and a couple of other survivors decided to pair up and hunt for food. While the man and his wife were searching, the wife was attacked by a vicious animal and torn apart from limb to limb. If only he hadn't lost his gun in the ocean, he could have saved her. He returned to camp distrought at the loss of his wife, and waited for the others to return. When the others returned, they were excited because they had found an albatross. They cooked it up and convinced the man to eat enough to keep him alive. To his surprise, he really enjoyed the albatross. The survivors were rescued soon after. Months later the man, having a sudden craving for albatross, went to a restraunt and ordered up a plate. When he took a bite, it did not taste the same. A horrible revelation crept over him. Realizing the albatross on the island was not an albatross, but his dismembered wife, he could not go on living. He then proceeded to pull the gun from his pocket and shot himself in the head.

WHOA, I was getting reda to as if he:
A) had eaten his wife before and not konwn about it
B) Realized it when he had REAL albatross.

Then I saw the solution.
