Not to fuel this firey thread (now) but:
"This is a great start and a move forward better than any president elect has ever done"

This isn't the first time this has happened and won't be the last. It's happened previously with other recent presidents as well, maybe even Clinton (don't remember) but the money back wasn't as much before. It's really nothing more than political hype INHO and I'm sure the government either has or will somehow get this money right back from us, one way or another (possibly through more gas, cig or liquor taxes, would be very easy).
At any rate, I'll still enjoy my seemingly "free" $600 one way or another but as the Flying Penguin first stated, they have indeed propably spent alot of un-necessary dollars in just hyping up all this since the first day when it was anounced.

Three things:
Now if $300 will help a little, why not give us the $2500 I mentioned above? Hmmmm? Wouldn't that do EIGHT TIMES more good than this little pittance?
1) Sorry to hear that $300 is "little pittance" to you Dirk.
2) There IS such a thing as too much of a good thing.
3) You need your own country. Or better yet, your own planet.
On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Eh, it's all funny-money, right? I mean, our government is going to waste money on whatever they want, trillion dollar 'refund' or not.

I'm just pissed that I am not getting my 'free' money from the government. I deserve to waste it as much as the politicians do.

I'll take anything they give back, but I wish is was based on your taxable income as a percentage, not on a maximum cap amount. Mine is all going back ($600), because my wife and I owe almost $4000 for 2000. I'll never exercise another company stock option again because that is what killed us.

The stock option was ~$25k, but after taxes and such, we were left with $8k which my wife and I used to replace all the carpets in the house and to replace the flooring in the kitchen. What I did not know is the entire amount is thrown in at the top of your total income again, which throws us into another tax bracket at the end of the year. So in reality, my $25k is reduced to $4k. They take the rest. Jeez...
