HA! There will NEVER be "free market economics" in the oil industry as long as OPEC is in existence.

I'm glad gas prices are going down. I have a couple big driving trips coming up this month. One unplanned one for tomorrow in fact ... have to head back to PA to give pimpin punk a wedgie

I might even drag him back home too

The lowest around me has been 1.13 so far. Whats the reason for the drastic price drop? Not that I'm complaining or anything... but prices for the last TWO years have been in the $2/gal range... now all of a sudden it's back to levels of 3 or more years ago. So what happened to make prices jump around so much?
I wonder how the prices are in other parts of the world now?

OPEC lowered the cost for a barrel of oil, which drives the price of gas down.

Also the airline demand is way down....the refinery folks are making more gas out of the crued they get, and less jet fuel.
In NYC we are still at 1.35, but it drops about .02 every 2 weeks or so.

Techincally, they increased production which drives prices down. Basically, oil was too expensive and people didn't want to buy as much, so they had to raise their outputs to get prices back down to where people will buy it.
