Desktop Screenshot Thread *COULD have large files, modem users beware*

Well, I haven't seen one in a while and since XP came out, Let's see how much everyone changed their layout. (and tweaks that were used).

Not a rule, but just to be polite: If you have Photoshop (or equivalent program), PLEASE take a min and do the following:
  • Shrink your screenshot to a Viewable size (to 1024x768 or smaller, preferrably 800x600)
  • Use a "Save for web" option in your graphics program and shrink the file size so it doesn't take forever to download (since even though many of us have broadband connections, there are still many regular modem users PLUS many servers are still very slow and can take awhile to download a larger file. [100K+])

There an easy way to do a screan shot without any fancy program?

Easy Answer: Yes.

Through Answer: Depends on your version of Windows. Go To your desktop (or whatever else you want to take a snapshot of) and press the "print screen" button (wow....remember that old button?). Now open your paint program (XP's version will work as well as any version that has the option to save it as a GIF/JPG.....which I think if you have office, it installs this ability). Now, press Ctrl-V (or open the edit menu and click paste), Paint (Not XPs version) will ask you if you would like your work area increased since the image is larger than the "canvas" you have open. Now go and save the picture, but change the type to "save as" to GIF or JPG. Close Paint. Now, if you have XP, right-click on the file and click "Resize Picture" and choose a smaller size. You now have a screenshot that is a usable size. :up

Hope this helps!

Hey FP where did ya get that skin for Winamp at? It looks like the deck my bro has in his car... I did a search at winamp for it but it came up with nothing.

bigcfromcinci: No that's not a theme - I REFUSE to install themes. That's a photo of the MIR space station - I found it on NASA's site.

PreDatoR: That Winamp skin is called Alpine. It's the ONLY Winamp skin I've EVER seen that looks worth a sh@t. It's supposed to look like a particular Alpine car radio model.

I found it on Winamp's skin site ages ago. Here's a link to it on my server: http://soldcentralfl.com/bob/alpine.zip
