I sold this guy my New sealed Retail Unopened box BFG gf4 4600. he got it and said there was a gf3 in the box.

The gf3 had a bfg sticker on the fan. He sent me a picture and I gata tell ya it is a gf3.

But who is to say it came in the box I sent him. I mean BFG never Made any gf3's, the box was sealed when shipped, and it all seems kind of strange to me.

Now he does have about 50 heatware and he seemed nice and all that (then again trolls usually do, Not saying this guy is one).

He said he will be shipping me back the card early next week...

What should I do?

Greg :(

You need to wait until you get the card back from him. When you receive it inspect it for signs of installation and tampering. Pay close attention to the fan and the sticker on it.

If it looks like the product is what he says it is then you need to get in touch with whoever you bought the video card from. It's possible that the card was channeled through BFG in error and some moron slapped the sticker on it and bagged it up.

And you are right, from everything that I can see at http://www.bfgtech.com they never sold a GeForce3 card.

where did you get it from? I remember a few years back people were buying sealed 8500s and getting 64mb vivos instead

If the guy has good heat, he's probably not trying to pull one over - wait til you get the box is the next step I guess

I am pretty sure I got it directly from BFG but I have sold a few of these and I have goten them threw different ways.

I mean he showed me a picture of it and that was a picture of a gf3. has the clasic Green heatsink and is layed out like a gf3.

But the question is, was there a gf3 in there or did he have one and is keeping my gf4 and claiming his gf3 was in the box. :(

That's why I said to inspect it for any tampering.

By all indications, from the sources I've found, BFG did not distribute any of the GF3's. So if the fan, or the sticker on the fan, doesn't looked to have been tampered with it's possible that it may have been mispackaged. But there's no way to know until you have it back in your hands to look at it.

In the meantime just keep the lines of communication open between the two of you and take this one step at a time.

yea, BFG never made any gf3's they only came into existance once the gf4's were already out and kicking.

you said that you bought these cards by different ways....

was any of them bought from a retail store? Maybe thats where the gf3 came from.

well, whats more likely to have occurred? a mispackaging, or this guy switchin em? i would think that it's more likely that he switched em. but thats for you to decide. at this point though, i would suggest that you dont give him a positive review, maybe neutral, so other traders at least get an inkling of what might have happened.

If it was still sealed when he got it then how can he blame you? Send him a copy of the reciept and let him take it up with BFG.

Especially look where the fan mounts to the heatsink. Look for any evidence that an old fan was unscrewed and the one from the 4600 with the BFG on it was reattached.

I don't fool with Heat simply because there was a boogie trying to set up the acct. That being said I never had a problem from any member on this board
as far as trades or buys,as a matter of fact I have allways had a positive experince and I'd go to bat for ya anytime. Did you look at the card before
you sent it out? I trust your judgement
but there might be an issue if you got the card from a third party. If it was sealed and you didn't open it but mearly
changed hands then it's certianly not your fault- however I'd also take the advice from the previous posters and eyeball it yourself. What a crapper.
hope things work out.
