It's a Pentium II class CPU (they never made a Pentium 1 over 233 Mhz).

If it has a hardware decoder, you can get smooth DVD playback from a P-200, but I'd say a P2-266 would be adequate.

P-266 would be a Socket 7 if my memory serves correct. That or a VERY beginning Slot 1. But I'm pretty sure it was Socket 7, which would mean theoretically you could replace it with an AMD K6-3 processor at a higher Mhz, but may not get as good preformance.

No Socket 7 was Pentium 1 and also 1st generation AMD up to 233. 2nd generation AMD CPUs from 266 to around 500 were Super Socket 7.

This should be a Pentium II, but it's the mobility version designed for laptops so it's not a Slot 1 (obviously - wouldn't fit).

However I THINK that they may also have made a Pentium 1 266 mobility version now that I come to think of it, but I doubt this is a P1.
