Force XP to unload DLL files after a program closes
run REGEDIT.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
create a new key named 'AlwaysUnloadDLL' and set the default value to equal '1.'
What this does is clears DLLS from being cached and getting bogged up in system memory

Absolut Talent's Tip for Heathly Computing:
Before attempting ANYTHING (overclocking, hardware swapping, system software tweaking, installing programs, etc....) read twice, perform once. I shall say it again, READ TWICE PERFORM ONCE. Dont skip a step cause it could be an important one. Make sure you understand what you are doing and what the risks are.

Gone for good. But never say never
Mozilla Firefox
If you have several sites that you like to check out everytime you log on to the net then take advantage of Firefox's tab browsing.
First create a folder with all your favorites that you want to open when you start the browser. Then click Tools>Options and open up the browser options panel. On the general tab click on the "Use Bookmark" button for the Home Page and select the folder you created. Now when you open the browser all your favorites will open in one window under seperate tabs.

Speed Up Firefox for DSL or Cable Connections
Trick to speed the page load with Firefox:
A) Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll and search for the these entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which speeds up the page loading.
B) Chage entries as follows: mark "network.http.pipelining" as "true" mark "network.http.proxy.pipelining" as "true" mark "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 30. The value 30 means that firefox will make 30 requests at once,
C) right-click and select New> integer. Create the integer as "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and put the value to "0". The number 0 is to avoid the delay that the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
D) now create another integer named " ui.submenuDelay" and set it to 0
there u go... If you follow step by step you will notice a faster page load

when setting up a wired network i use wire marker numbers i get from a eletrical supply. i tag each cable with a cloth number tag . at the connector also on the hub or router plug . and on the unit at the other end . makes it easy work in case of a wire go's down. also when setting up a network and i can map it out also listing the matching numbers . big time save also last longer then a marking pen -and easyer to use !
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me.

Another great tip...
If you go overseas with a desktop (c'mon I know people in here go to LANs) make sure you use 230v on your power supply. I've blown 2 PS's in Iraq, and 5 in Germany (went from transformer to straight wall jack... dumb mistake as well). Also, for the laptop people, remeber voltage is around 220-230V @ 50Hz, not your standard 120 @ 60 Hz, check your power supply as well.
If you need any other tips for overseas travel... hit me up here.

Freeing Up Wasted Space
OS: Windows XP and maybe others
Dr. Watson, for what ever reason, appends to it's log instead of replacing it, resulting in a huge text file (we're talking 2-4gigs). To free up a few gigs goto the
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\
-or-
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\
folder and delete the log file.

Backup Your Login Password In Windows XP
Open Control Panel:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. From there open User Accounts. Click on the user account you'll be working with. In the upper-left of the screen, under Related Tasks click Prevent a forgotten password.
Be sure to have a formatted floppy in da drive
Follow the wizzard, clicking next etc.. it will ask you for your current pass
WARNING
keep the disk in a safe place,. This disk allows anyone to logon to your computer. AND since the process requires the password to be reset, after they use this disk you are locked out!!!
How to use
If you cant remeber your pass for some reason, at login just insert the disk, walla!
This may be a good thing to do when setting up someone elses cpu, and you keep the floppy with the admin pass for the eventual midnight phone call from MOM
