I can't stand them to no end! Something about those 8 legs and fangs that get to me. Plus they can be on you without you even knowing it. blaaaaaah In the summer here I have to use a stick to go up or down my walkway from the mailbox to my house, otherwise spider webs everywhere. And it's no fun getting webs all over your face and hair and especially them grezee grimey soul sucking spiders! :|

Very few things scare me, being stranded on a deserted island with rosie o'bubblehead aside spiders scare me more than anything.

So just minutes ago I go into my kitchen(forget what for) and out of the corner of my eye I see something that shouldn't be there. Near the ceiling is a spider. A frickin' big one! aaaaaaaaah! It's body was probably 1 1/2 inches long! Not counting those legs. Dunno what kind but I don't think it was a black widow, it was more brownish black.

k, I look for my bug spray. But where the frick is it? I always have the basement and outside sprayed regularly but sometimes these sneaky suckers sneak in especially when dogs come in and out a lot when I open the door. So I do keep bug spray. In the meantime I kept eyeballing that spider and he didn't move a bit. I guess the light blinded him. Finally find the damn bug spray and I get close to give him a good long shot, hehe

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! The damned alien jumps at me as soon as I spray him! As my heart fluttered he did miss me and ended up on the ground moving real fast! Here is dummy me wearing socks and no shoes. Anyway I find him in a corner curled up against the dishwasher. He looked dead but I sprayed him again and what does he do? The lil shit moves around right at me quickly!! aaaaaaah! I keep spraying as I back up(what the hell is in the bug spray anyway?)and finally he hides in the corner again. I quickly get my shoes and a paper towel and place the paper towel on him and then wham!! Stomped him good. :) And used another paper towel and flush him.

Gawd, does all bug spray work this bad against spiders? No wonder I've never been able to get rid of them on my steps outside.

hehe, kinda reminds me of our "Worst Nightmare" thread we had once before. So what is your worst nightmare? I have some more spider stories too, hehe

And what's that damn smell? Damn bug spray.

So Blade tell me more about what you are wearing ;)

I don't have a problem with spiders, snakes on the other hand are a different story. On a couple of occasions while driving down the road I spotted a snake sunning itself. My "normal" reaction is to scream then cover my eyes. Did I mention I was driving? It's a good thing pimpin joe was with me. He grabs the stirring wheel till we are past the snake. My hero :)

Anyways, WD40 does real well on spiders :) :)

Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite!!!

You probably hate thinking about all the liitle dust mites and spiders crawling around when you don't even know it, huh? I saw on the Discovery channel once that on average a person will swallow about 6 spiders a year while sleeping. No joke either... TV would never lie, atleast not the Discovery channel. Sorry, I didn't mean to put another damper on your day. It's just something to think about.

Spiders bother me too.
Of course, the biggest we've had here are Daddy Long legs, but when I see anything beyond that, I run like a little school girl!
Well, not quite...

Blade don't move to Arizona I used to live in Tucson had a little house out in the desert one morning I walked into the kitchen and there was a BIG Turantula when I say BIG I mean BIG he was 5 1/4 inches from his fangs to his but and he was real hairy. My roomate was picking him up and stuff I wanted no part of it myself and I insisted that he either kill him or take him far away from the house which is what he did.

hehe, I ment just no shoes Freebird. But u can think otherwise if ya wish. ;)

We swallow 6 spiders a year JonasWorld? aaaaaah! Doesn't surprise me. Twice I've woken up with something crawling on my lips and both times when I turned the light on I found a spider. They didn't live long. I guess they are attracted to the moisture. Makes sense. Bug spray from places like orkin dry them out so they crave moisture.

Egads, what a horrible thought eh.

Anyone remember several years ago a baseball player got a large moth stuck in his ear? It was on ESPN. A doc used tweezers to try and pull it out and when it was about all out it flew away! It was a big one too. That was all caught on film. Weird the guy couldn't stop it from getting in his ear but I guess the moth was quick. Poor guy was in shock too. But at least it wasn't a spider.

Yuck I hate spiders too...we don't have very big ones here because of our climate but in the summer we go camping in Northern Ontario and every morning there is a new web where I just cleaned it out the day before.
I hate bugs and insects they are just a pest.I just found some sort of nest in my bbq...I think it was a mouse..I told the wife he wasn't in it cause he probably went in our house for the winter...lol she freaked...
Blade try Waspblaster on them...its for bees and wasps but its potent and it shoots about 6 feet in a steady stream.
btw I like snakes and reptiles..the Crocodile Hunter is my favorite show...g'day mate...crikey...that was a big spider..haha

I just hate em because they're so sneaky. Looking at them close up they do look terifying. Plus my fear may come from when I was a child an 11 year old neighbor was bitten by a brown recluse. She was in the hospital for a couple months and at times they thought she would not make it. I remember visiting her a lot and she looked terrible but she finally pulled through.

Speaking of large spider. I know all about large tarantulas in the desert dadx2mj. I lived in Vegas for about 12 years. I use to go out at night with a flourasent light and watch the scorpions and tarantulas. They can't see a flourasent light plus it makes them glow. For some reason since I knew they were't poisonous they didn't bother me. I saw one once that had to be at least a foot long, counting the legs.

One time me and some friends caught a tarantula and a skorpion and put them in a covered aquarium. Just for evil fun. Now remember, we captured a small skorpion. They are the most deadly kind. And we captured a tarantula that was about 8 inches long counting the legs. The body maybe 3 inches. The skorpion was barely 2 inches long. Who do you think won? hehe There was eventually a war but I'll tell ya the weiner tomorrow.

Blade, I'm with ya all the way on the spider fears. I fear them enough so that when I am leafing through a magazine, if I turn the page and my fingers are on the picture of a spider, I literally throw the magazine.

Funniest experience with a spider? Easy.

When I was about 8 years old, my family and I went to a restaurant for lunch. As I am eating, I feel this crawling sensation on my neck, moving down to my chest. I take a look down and see this HUGE (about 2" :) ), white abdomened monstrosity with enormous frickin skinny, hairly legs.

Being a mere kid, I jumped up from them table screaming, making brushing motions wildly, causing everyone in the joint to stare at me.

The worst part: My mother had tucked the tablecloth into my shirt to use as a napkin because I was eating really saucy spaghetti. Yep, you got it. I took the entire contents of the table with me in my crazy dance with a wolf spider. Still makes me shiver.

Personally I'm not a big fan on spiders. Oh an btw WD40 only works well on Spiders if you light it! :D hehe. Actually it works fine, but lighting it is more fun.

The funniest thing I can think of having to do with spiders was on the Simpsons. Any of you watch that show?? Thats still one of my favorite shows!! :) Homer was going to leave for work, but there was this huge spider by his car keys. And the way he said this cracks me up just thinking about it. He was like "Marge, thers a spider by my car keeeeyyyyyyys" HAHA :lol Then marge goes in the other room and kills it. Good stuff!! :)

Where live near some woods with lots of spiders. Most are all small so they don't bother me.

Catch this though. A long time ago, a spider laid eggs in my friends neck!!! He had to go to the doctor to take some medicine to kill the eggs and stuff. Really wierd :-/ There was a small lump where the eggs were too!!! EEEK!

blade, put down the crack pipe and back away from the nature channel. :) Dude spiders are the pinnacle of insect sized loner type creatures, they are amazing little things, watch a few Animal Planet and Discovery Channel or TLC documentaries on them and then decide if they are abhorrent creatures.

Spiders ARE terrible

Post by Underclocked »

little creatures.
We would all perish without termites, but that doesn't mean I want them all around me.
One of dem dar fiddleback sumbiches bite me on the left leg just below the knee when I was in high school. Circle of flesh about 2.5" in diameter turned black and fell off eventually. Bastich!!! Hurt too.
Spiders bug me, but yellow jackets even more since I stepped in a ground nest of those barefooted and in shorts -- long, long ago. Leg swelled to about twice its normal size. So, if you see a ground nest of barefooted, short wearing yellow jackets steer clear. :)
No doubt the skorpion won Blade, tarantulas are really pretty harmless as they don't seem to want to actually bite anything.
I love my crawlspace. :(
Found some cheap spray at a Dollar General store that actually works on spiders. It isn't dramatic, but it does kill them. Find that cheap stuff and check the label. You are right in that most insecticide sprays don't even phase the darn things.
Always heard if you put hedge-balls (Osage Oranges) in your crawlspace, they will act as natural insect repellents (including spiders). Wanna buy some??
