I have not seen a deal worth fighting those crowds. I hate standing in lines.

Just could not be bothered this year.
There was nothing that seemed important enough...

I have a friend at work work hits up best buy every year. He picked me up a copy of the orange box for $25.
Myself, I'd rather pay full price than fight crowds. I plan to do all my shopping online anyway.

needed a new tree this year .we walked into meijers at 10:00 am and was out at 11:00am with a new tree .no crowds left when we got there and sales were over at 11:00 am . also store was only 1/2 mile from the house . now kohls at the end of my street was still pack at 10:00 am. but this just open in october. so i think those from other areas were shopping there. thinking its new and people may not be aware of it yet .we looked at the lot and drove the 1/2 mile to meijers.
got 40% off on the tree and no crowd to deal with .
also on a side note . last year i went to meijers for some stuff and it was early in the am. they had pallets of goods out of the item on the floor. didnt see any pallets as of 10:00 am . eather they didnt do that this year or was all sold out ? :lol

The only thing of inerest I saw was best buy had a laptop/printer combo for $229. I saw the lines on the news were already there at 11pm and said forget it. They probably have only 1 and it would be gone by the time i got there.
There weren't very many deals that were that great. I could get alot of the same prices on ebay without the wait...

My girlfriend's daughter needs a new laptop. So we scope out all the deals, wake up at 3:30 and go to best buy. The line is around the store. We stand in line anyway, get into the store and all the laptops in the ads (or under 600) are gone. We blow out of there and go to Staples. Get there right after they open. All their advertised laptops are gone too. Hit Radio Shack to get a nav system. First Rat Shack sold out, second has one. Then to Sears for an air compressor for the son-in-law, hit Office Depot after that and their last laptop goes to the guy who walked in just before us. Go to Circuit City and score a couple of 7 dollar 2 gig flash drives, shop for her momma in Bed Bath and whatever then shop for a bit in Toys R Us. Get back to her momma's house at noon completely exhausted.
Find a coupon for Dell Small Business, order a lappy for 500 shipped, girlfriend is happy and goes and takes a nap. I am too wired so I do work I brought with me - had to be back in DC by 10 sat. morning, so wake up at 4 sat morning, drive from Norfolk to DC. Its monday night now and I am still tired...
Will I do black friday again? Not if I can help it. The really good deals go to the people who camp out all night. Otherwise, you just stand in line waiting to check out.
The only good new is I got a lot of shopping done, which is amazing for me. But I gotta do it sooner rather than later this year as I start chemo pretty soon.

Just like Lmandrake described. My last try was 6-7 years ago and I was over an hour early before best buy opened. From the highway I could see the parking lot full. Drove by it once off the highway and saw lines of people all through the parking lanes. Kept on driving.
Tried staples next, office depot, all were either too busy or out of what I was after. Since, I'll never try again.
Lmandrake, kemo?

Man, anything I can do? Hang in there. I wish you the very best too.

I went by Best Buy and Circuit City around 6AM, saw the lines and just kept going. Line outside Best Buy was about one-tenth a mile long. General rule of thumb, if you are not the first 10 people in line, you are not going to get any of the best deals.
My last try was 8 years ago. If I can't just walk in the store I won't even bother. The only line I will wait in is to checkout. Should see Circuit City, always unprepared by design. Only 4 normal checkouts, so they use the service desk and various other checkouts around the camera and tv sections.
Best I enjoyed was Moviestop. Went right in at opening time, no massive hordes of people, got some good deals. Gamestop is bad itself, they only can checkout two at a time, and much of their line is delayed by Wiis. Gamestop who like most other stores, horded all their Wiis for Black Friday. Everyone has a whole bunch of those 40GB PS3s stacked, no one was buying them.
I still can not believe those 40GB PS3s were even made, no backward compatibility, bleh, not worth the hardware it is made with.

I don't do the early shopping. I usually have all of mine done before Thanksgiving.
You all do realize people are crazy early in the morning especially when they're shopping. They would kill you for anything!

I was in grand forks. got a 360 for $300.
My parents went to Fargo. sears I think, bought a huge plasma and they said they would hold it over night (my rents paid already) than BAM! next day there all like uhh... we must of sold it on you. my dad shrugged. my mom was livid.
After a few hours they gave her a better one not even in the stores yet.. from a warehouse, worth a wopping $479 more! 50+ inchs of plasma.
I wasn't around for it, me and the girl were in grand forks cutting in line, for door crashers.
good time, will do it again, perfect for x-mas shopping. too bad our dollar went from 1.10 to like 1.01
