tracfone can receive email, who woulda thought

Post by Shadow250 »

i just got a junk mail on my tracfone. i didnt even know it could do that till i got a stock buying mail. i sent a msg to my isp email for kicks and it worked. it even receives messages from yahoos sms feature which is way cool. while this is pretty slick i cant think of anyone i know who would use this feature to save me some $$ cuz the messages are cheaper than talking. oh well.

I can't figure out how anyone can type on a small cell phone for text messages or email. I guess it takes getting use to it.

With tracfone I believe some phones they have do email, net while some don't. Mine does too but never used it. Good to have though just in case. .3 cents per text message ain't bad.

Got my first SPAM text message yesterday. This crap better stop, cause it costs me money to receive them.

My wife told me that she has been getting them also (just within the last 2 weeks) on her phone.

I've been using Tracfone since last August and the only spam I get is from Tracfone, always trying to get me to buy more minutes. It can go online and do email but I've never tried as I have no need to use a phone like that.

I have no complaints with the phones or service otherwise. Far more affordable than a typical cell phone contact for people who don't use them that often.

You've got to be relatively young IMO. My kid and his friends text all the time, rarely ever using phones to talk anymore whereas I've never tried nor care to. To me, it's bad enough just adding entries to the phone book.

Tracfone is a deal especially if you get the double minute deal. Why pay 30 or more a month when you don't need it.

Girls, with their slender fingers, probably do well with cell phone typing. Still a pain hitting one key several times to get the right letter or number. And if you go too fast you have to start all over.

As for spam, I hit the off button to stop those text "buy moe minutes" messages. Doesn't appear to charge me that way. If it's a private number calling or one I don't know, I won't answer due to receiving spam or wrong number calls. If they leave a voicemail I don't check vm in till I get a vm I know. Then hit the 7 key once the spam vm starts to delete it.

First.. The Cell Phone Spam is just starting.. I get it from GoDaddy.. because I am a cust.. and an employee..

Second.. Pay As You Go is ok.. if you don't burn the min's like the wife and I do.. she has her blackberry.. and I just went to a Win Mobile Device.. HTC Wing from Tmobile.. full kybd for me to type on.. and it gets my email from work.. as well as my personal stuff.. I can surf the web.. play games.. ect.. great for when you spend 6-8 hours in ER for the flu/kidney issues w/ the wife..

We are a cellular/internet society. the stats I read last week said for every PC sold there is 4 cell phones.. w/ over 13 billion cell phones in the world that can access the net..

Just because I am an a$$hole.. doesn't mean I don't care..

I recently bought an iPhone (mainly to just carry 1 device, iPod and cell phone) and cant believe how convenient having e-mail and internet on the go is. Typing takes a little getting used to, seeing as its a touch screen with no tactile feedback as in a normal number pad or keyboard. I absolutely love it.
