I'm also shocked as this is the first I've read this. How did anyone find out about that and in March? Any more info?

Mike and I go way back to the AGN early days, before he was a mod there and both of us we just learning how to build PCs, overclock them (like the C300A cpu) in '98 I believe.
He always helped me, sent me stuff like games, programs, whatever. He was a guy who'ld come to your aid whenever you asked and never asked for anything in return. I never met him in person but always considered him to be a friend and hoped to actually meet him in person someday.
Like others here, I too hadn't heard from him, seen him posting here in a while and I was wondering why. To me, if he had health problems, it's odd that he never discussed that here because he'd discuss other family related problems here.
Anyway, I hope he finds peace in the hereafter. He'll be missed by many.

This is a complete shock to me as well. It is important to remember what he did for everyone, the willingness to help others, and his kind gentle spirit. He will surely be missed, but let us not forget him, as no one should ever be forgotten.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel at this moment. I've been in shock since I learned about it Last night.

Michael was always a great friend and comrade whom I will greatly miss. He brought me in as moderator of this site back when this site was young and campaigned for my assignment as a mod at AnandTech as well. I worked closely with him in both places as well as the development of TrollHunters, com.

after thinking about things more last night, i realized the level of impact Mike had on my life. it's pretty amazing how "little" things affect you in great ways...and PCA was one of them for me. i never thought about it much until now, but PCA was the primary reason i became so interested in computers to begin with. after i found PCA's ancestors back in 98 or 99 i became hooked on building computers, modding, o/c'ing, etc...

that was what gave me the motivation to eventually switch careers and work with computers instead of healthcare (my undergrad is medical). wow. it's indirect...but still very powerful stuff. thanks again, mike.

I've just joined this forum, so I did not know Mike. From reading all the posts, it's clear that he had many friends here. I'm sorry I never had the chance to know him.

My condolences to those who knew and loved him. RIP, Mike.

Oh crap, he's one of the first people that I traded with on these forums. I was wondering why I hadn't seen him in a while. R.I.P. to a good one.

Wow.. My heart sank as I read this... I can't beleive it! He kept in touch with me over the few years I have been gone. We talked on the phone a few times and he even offered me to visit him. He offered me money even when he was broke.. What a great guy!

Best wishes to his family! Blue Skies Mike!

God damn it... Damn it.

Michael Lee Valley - Blade as I had known you, sir - you meant quite a bit to me, in those early days as the internet grew you were a true shining hero in that wasteland - a man who was insightful, even tempered and never failed to voice how he felt about anything.

You shall always be a hero and inspiration to me.

Rest in Peace, dear sir....
