$5 gas by July?
This really sucks. How in the hell can it rise so fast. In January of this year, here in southern california, gas was $2/gal. In just a short 6 months, it has gone up 120%! If we hit $5/gal as they are saying, it will be a 150% increase.
I know people are using less, as I can tell simply by driving to work. My carpool buddies and I see more smaller cars and less trucks. We also see more than one person in cars, so more people are carpooling to work, so I still don't understand why it keeps going up if we are reducing demand.

I don't know.. But it's absolutely crazy in my book.. I mean really.. If people are paying so much more for everything now. Everything has been affected by the increase in gas prices. Well, everything but how much money people are making.. I know that increasing wages isn't the answer as that only causes even more increases.. But still.. I don't understand how the economy can survive if we're having to spend so much more on just the necessities in life.. ;\

You think that's bad? If we have a major hurricane hit the Gulf we could easily have $6 a gallon gas.
Then again, just to put this in perspective they've been paying $6 a gallon in Europe for the past year, so don't feel so bad.

Christians warn us about the anti-christ for 2,000 years, and when he shows up, they buy a bible from him.
There is no reason for gas to be as high as it is. It's all speculation. The news itself drives up the price of gas. In fact, any excuse is being used right now to raise it. The sad part is that it will NEVER drop again. Once the commodities traders realize that we will pay it, it will stay. If our government wanted to help, they would suspend the taxes on diesel to ease the cost of transporting food and other goods.
I drive 150 miles, 5 days a week. Pretty soon it's going to be cheaper to find s cheap place close to work and only come home on the weekends.

Even with diesel being about 4.50 I still can't complain. I hate paying that much, but when my car easly gets 50MPG+ i just kinda chuckle when i pass a prius on the highway.

And you shouldn't be chuckling much, at least if you lived here
at 5.35 for diesel, it is 9.35c a mile(at your 50mpg), and regular (at $4.40) is 9.09c a mile(at 40mpg)
so depending on the difference in the prices, it is more expensive to fill you diesel per mile then a Prius

Im just curious to see the profit record this next quarter from the big three oil giants. Reminds me of that guy that was running state to state killing people sniper style. He should have targeted some of the big oil execs instead........that might get their greedy attention. Just another dumb matrix, cant build new drilling platforms because of the tree huggers is their excuse as well as their aging refineries need renovations but that 4billion dollar record profit wasnt enough money Im guessing to upgrade the refineries. It is just pure greed. I mean what can you expect when you got an Oil guy in the pres slot. Odd that he's fixin to get the can and all this crap is happening, sounds like a setup to me. Either way we will never see fuel prices dip below $3.00gal since we have already become accustomed to paying it.

By this December, if the price remains around $4/gal, I'm probably going to be buying a new car that can get decent gas mileage. I'd like to get a bike, but there are simply too many idiots on the road text messaging while they drive. I thought it was bad driving a bike 20 years ago, but its worse now.

Funny, I get the same feeling.even though it sucks to pay more, i get a sick satisfaction knowing all of the ridiculously large SUVs have to pay up now. i haven't seen any less of them yet...maybe at $10/gallon 99% of the owners will realize they don't need them.
It's funny, because when I originally bough my Geo Metro, I had only intended to use it to go on road trips. All of my friends made fun of me because of my "egg" car. Now, I have people coming up to me like I'm driving a Ferrari & asking how much gas I use. It's sad though, because I never thought it would take more than $20 to fill the tank (8 gallons).
True, but at some point they will have to get the battires serviced, and how long is that Gasser gonna run before it breaks? I know my Diesel will easly get to 300k+ before needing a major rebuild.DoPeY5007 wrote:it is $5.35ish around here
