Need some help about my inner ear.

Post by Invisible Evil »

So update:

Ear drum = fail...It is not ruptured, it is gone. I will be going in to have surgery (which is no biggie) Tuesday.
No infection at least, however I have permanatally lost 55% of my hearing in that ear.
This is a pain in the ass.

Thanks for all the concern and help.

Oh and you all were right I would have not lost as much hearing if I went to DR. that day.
I cant believe the window of time you need for this stuff.

go to the ear/eyes/throat specialist. You may only need an ear flushing and go from there.

Do not waste time. See an ear specialist. It may not be serious or he may have ruptured your eardrum.

Don't wait.

Call your general practitioner and get a referral.

Don't wait in the off change that it will get better. If there's damage, an infection could start.

you need to see a doc - ASAP - I lost 90% of the hearing in my right ear last year because of noise exposure - YOU NEED TO GET TREATMENT NOW - they give you steroids to help the inner ear recover - the longer you wait the less likely it is to get better. Offhand it sounds like you also have a ruptured eardrum which is really no big deal, that heals. It is the shock from the soundwave that kills the little hairs inside your cochlea. they do not come back. steroids reduce the trauma/swelling and give them a chance to heal.

Believe me, it is really a pain in the ass to lose the hearing on one side. you lose your ability to find objects by sound, like phones, for one thing.

DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH THIS!

If you have health insurance, go to the ER now!

I worked with a guy who once had a cat. converter blow up right next to him because it was running lean, glowing red and another guy threw water on it being afraid that the car would start on fire (bam!).

That guy lost his hearing in that ear, never came back.

See a specialist ASAP!

The first time I shot off my S&W 44 mag, I forgot to put on my sound deadening ear phones and after one shot thought I wasn't going to hear again. My ears were just ringing for 1/2 hour but eventually I got my hearing back. I got lucky that time.
