I believe that has been tried and doesn't work.. The spambots still get past them.

Actually most of the time it's done by "gold farmers": cheap foreign labor paid a few cents for every Captcha they enter.

Sounds about right.. ;\ I give you 2 cents for every captcha! Oh, I do 2,000 a day! Me makey $40 that enough to feed my famiry for tree years! Stupid farmers..

I'm assuming they're inefficient as heck compared to a roof array, but they make up for it in the surface covered.
