Chase gives me free money

Post by psypher »

Maybe it's just me, but I just received an email from Chase (Credit Card) telling me they are giving me $25, no strings attached, out of the blue and I just find it odd.
Thank you from Chase Freedom®

Thank you for your business. As a gesture of our appreciation, we’re depositing $25 in Cash Back rewards into your Chase Freedom account, that's 2,500 points. The bonus will post to your account within 30 days automatically. There’s nothing you need to do — just enjoy it.

Not odd at all. You already have an account with them and getting rewards, points is nothing new.

Yes, I know I get rewards, 2-5% back from my purchase. In this case, they just gave it to me. Might be based on how much I've used the card, but it's separate from what I already get back. It's nice and all, but just thought it odd for a large company to do nowadays.

Just remember, "there's no free lunch" so there's probably more to it OR they've made a ton of $$ from you.

I refuse to deal with rewards. My main card is a cash-back card. I have a business Visa card for my company that has rewards, but I have it setup so the reward points just get converted to cash back whenever it reaches a threshold.
