Miami is like that. Big city. Lots of construction all the time. I've driven under an ovetpass while it was being lifted into place.
I know exactly where that is. Used to drive through there all the time. Busy road.

W T F ?!?!? Oh hey, so you designed a bridge that collapsed? Well come on over here and build our bridge too!Figg Bridge Engineers, the firm that designed the FIU-Sweetwater UniversityCity Bridge in Miami, was also involved in the construction of a bridge in Virginia of which a 90-ton section collapsed in 2012 while it was under construction, according to the Virginian Pilot.

I agree with him that, just for safety's sake, they should have left a temporary support in the middle until the top cables were installed.
The problem is that nowadays we make things BARELY strong enough, because we can computer model it. One little flaw could bring it all down. In the old days before computer modeling they just played it safe and over engineered everything.

All about costs these days and even when they don't engineer it enough, it still costs an arm and a leg.
