Sad state of affairs

You know things are really messed up when some nut job can go and buy hundreds of guns, yet I can only buy one video card.

Microcenter has been limiting GPU's to 1 per buyer. They maintain a database of who has bought a GPU. Looks like Newegg is limiting as well to 2 per customer.

I'm glad they're doing this because it keeps the miners from hogging them all up.

If they know they will sell that many is it a problem with not being able to produce enough?

The miners are buying the cards so fast that production can't keep up. I still think you should at least be able to purchase 2 though. Some still want to run SLI.

The prices are also jacked up now. I'm glad I got my 1080 when I did. I also read somewhere that the new threadrippers may be good for cpu mining because the efficiency is better for some currencies.
