Prusa i3 3D Printer

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Okay this tech is getting REALLY good. Padre says the gears spun as soon as it came out of the printer, without having to trim any excess.
Christians warn us about the anti-christ for 2,000 years, and when he shows up, they buy a bible from him.

That's awesome.

This is the top google link so I don't know if this is the correct sore but $750 is a really good deal: https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers ... -kit.html#

I just don't have any use for one other than a toy.

And that price is DIY. If you want one assembled and tested, it's $1k.

Even at 1K, I could see getting one if you did something like electronics restoration where you needed to replace a knob, slider, or gear.

If you're really into Warhammer, you could print your own pieces. You may actually save money.

I am old school... I cant wrap my head around a additive process. I was raised as a machinist and that is a subtractive process. I get it and it seems neat but as has been mentioned it would be more a toy then a tool. I have a Bridgeport out in the barn that I use to do stuff with. Now if I was printing metal that would be different but plastic parts just don't come to mind for stuff I need.

When the detail becomes something I can use for HO modeling... Then I have TONS of stuff I can do. It kinda can now for some things like base buildings and other basic stuff that you can add details to later, but it would be nice to print with details right out of the printer... But that is still a ways out.

Dunno. Resin printing provides very good resolution. I dont know what HO modeling is, but if it's like small pieces in the 6x6 inch range, resin can probably make you happy.

Not as cheap as the Prusa, but this is a good midrange resin printer:

It would be neat to be able to print out the pieces for out of print car model kits. I could see a market for purchasing the files.

Another example of what PadreSJ did with the Prusa:
