Amazing bird. It can even out run missiles fired at it. Not sure if that is true today, but it was back when it was used in the 60's and 70's.

Are you sure you're talking about the U2 or did you mean the SR-71 ?
The SR-71 could outrun missiles. The U2 was actually shot down once when a missile exploded behind it.

There's a Mythbusters Episode where Adam gets to take a ride in one. The pilot depends on the chase vehicle to tell him where the plane is when landing because past a certain point you can't see the runway.
