Thanks for taking care of that gift/sentiment FP. I suspect it didn't much matter what we sent his way so much as that we remember him.

I'm in South Florida. We're now expected to get Tropical Storm type winds tomorrow. If it turns North like it's supposed to, that should be the worst of it. Not too bad.

I received an email from Elmdea just a short while ago,, package was received, and happily got the response from John I think we were all hoping for :)

Elmdea wrote:
"Loretta,

The package you all sent arrived on Thursday. John didn't have the energy to have me open it until yesterday. He got a wry grin and small shake of his head (twice!) when he saw what you sent and said. That, at this point, is a major response from him because he's so very very tired. He can barely walk any more :-(

Please tell everyone he says thank you and I say thank you. Those bright spots in his day mean more than you know. The "high tech" discs and note are sitting where he can see them when he goes to smoke a cigarette. Yes, he still is. There's no point at this point for him to stop and they provide him comfort.
Blessings,

Elmdea"

**** I've not replied yet, but will by this eve,,, is there anything you'd like me to include in my reply to her? ****

ok,, I've just now emailed Elmdea -

"Hi Elmdea,

Thanks so much for letting me know that our little package arrived,,, We were hoping John would be ok enough to know we were pulling his leg, and we're so glad to hear of John's response :) .
Anything that brings a small grin or smile is a good thing (hugs).

I did post on the forum yesterday, but given that it is a weekend, not too many members pop in; - at the same time, I didn't want to hold off too long in replying to you.

Bob/Flying Penguin commented:

Keep well, Elmdea, and blessings on you both,

If you email again, tell John to enjoy his cigs and that he's in my thoughts every day. I'm still flying in Elite Dangerous almost every day. He helped get me started in that game, 4 years ago, and still think of him every time I play.

Please keep John and Elmdea in your thoughts and prayers,,,

Elmdea posted this a short while ago:

"John is declining rather rapidly these past few days. On Sunday, he lost his balance and fell against and then slid down a wall. It was 3:30 in the morning and I heard a sound that just wasn't right. That's what it was. I ended up calling 911. They came and got him up and put him to bed. John has a DNR and has been very clear he doesn't want to go to a hospital.

Over the past few days, the Hospice people have been as clear as they've ever been that John is failing/declining pretty rapidly at this point. And he could still be here several weeks from now. Each person is different.

In a matter of 24 hours, I now have caregivers helping me take care of him for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are also taking care of me, which I totally didn't expect. All I knew was that the care John needs now I can't do without physically hurting myself.

He's been very clear that he's doesn't want to hear anything about prognosis. So, if he turns around, which he has done before, I'll be deleting this post in case he becomes strong enough to get on the computer. But I don't think he will this time. "

/// ,,, and a few more postings between us:

"I'm so very sorry, Elmdea,,,, sending prayers and thoughts of peace for the journey ahead,,, <3 "
----
"and I know you’ll let the PCA folks know too. Thank you so very much for that. Their notes back to him have been well received, albeit very quietly."
----
"Yes, of course, Elmdea ((hugs)), and I understand, as will they,,, <3 <3 "

///end.
