Re: gas cost
Wells not pumps.
When exactly did CA ever provide 30% of this country's oil? From the graph I posted above, they've been importing at least half of their oil since 1982.

Re: gas cost
If the wacko's in our state legislator had their way, there would be no cars on our roads.

According to Wiki, the source is: Harold F. Williamson et al. The American Petroleum Industry the Age of Energy 1899-1959 (1963) p 17FlyingPenguin wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 11:49 am Wells not pumps.

In 1900 California pumped 4 million barrels (640,000 m3), nearly 5% of the national supply. Then came a series of major discoveries, and the state pumped 100 million bbl (16 million m3) in 1914, or 38% of the national supply.[1] In 2012 California produced 197 million bbl (31 million m3) of crude oil, out of the total 2,375 million bbl (378 million m3) of oil produced in the U.S, representing 8.3% of national production.

Re: gas cost
Not sure what that was all about. My point was that when I went, there were still actual pumps, not just the wells. Saw lots of them actually.
Apparently back in the day, people were drilling wells in their backyards, hoping to strike it rich.
I didn't think it was THAT prolific until seeing this collection of pics:

Here's an old Venice Beach postcard. LMFAO

Re: gas cost
Still waiting for the fucking idiot democrats in our state legislator to give us either a rebate or stop collecting state taxes. I hope this continues so those fuckers can get kicked out of office. Something so simple and they can't even decide which one to select, but I know them - they do not want to stop collecting taxes, even though the state has a $100 billion surplus.
Your lucky your gas is till less than $5. Ours are over $6.
