Long time no see...

Post by Hipnotic_Tranz »

Hey all,

It's been a minute!

Looks like the last time I checked in was 2019 when I saw WvJohn had passed. It was 2014 before that! Crazy how the time slips by. Not sure if many people recognize the handle but I go back to the AGN days. I traded some hardware with d_b and others; looks like he's not posted anything since 2015. I remember Darcy and of course you regulars like FP, Executioner, reno. Talk about keeping the community alive! It's truly amazing this place still exists, especially with the way the internet evolves. Reddit killed forums and I'm guilty of spending my time there.

I guess I'm just checking in for some nostalgia! My brother recently got married. I'm +14 years his senior and he got me back into gaming around 2016. I remember cause I bought Doom and was blown away by how great it was. Anyway, I had to give a best man speech and in doing so, realized how similar we were--just a separated by more than a decade and all the differences that come with that much time passing and tech evolving. Started going down the rabbit hole of looking for a couple of the old reviews I had submitted to Blade (RIP) back in the day.

Anyways....shoot, guess I just wanted to check in and leave a mark. Let everyone know I'm here staring at 37 and remembering my 17 year old self posting on all the popular forums at the time. I remember FP doing IT/consulting work on his own thinking how amazing that concept was and here I am...running a small consulting biz and still 'knee deep in the dead.' Tech doesn't hold the same appeal these days but I don't loath the work, it generally is good for my personality, and the money is good.

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting by.

-Nate

Welcome back! I'm still gaming on line with TF2. It's the only game I play on line. I'm more into single player, but the way the gaming industry is going, looks like games will be on the internet, on your phone, laptop, or desktop.

Executioner - I don't blame ya! I'm mostly single player as well. I'm finally giving Mass Effect a go; I've heard so many good things and it's my brothers favorite so I figured I should give it a proper play through.

Hey reno! Sounds like the worst of Ian generally missed you and FP. Whew. The girlfriends grandparents just moved away from Fort Myers a year ago (further north and a bit more inland). I've seen some pictures of that area and wow...devastating.
