A friend of mine recommended CyberRebates to me, but I'm a bit afraid of dealing with them. Their rating at Reseller Ratings is a 6.5/7, which is outstanding. Has anyone here ever dealt with them? There's some pretty expensive stuff there for free (and free is good ;) ). Any input would be nice. Thanks :)
BTW, Cyber Rebates is a site that you order a product from, and then they send a rebate back (sooner or later {later}).

they used to be good, but now i dont really see anything worth buying on their site.

its takes 6-8 weeks for their rebates to get back to you, and thats how they make their money (interest, investments etc. with your money)

they used to have reasonably priced items, but as of late, their prices have sky rocketed. I mean, they charge $300 for an optical mouse by Dexxa that would run you about $15 everywhere else.

Sure you get your money back, but do you want to have $300 in their possession for 6 weeks just to get 15 bucks worth of free stuff?

You would be giving these people an interest free loan! There's also the possibility there will be a mixup with the rebate. Skyrocketing prices may mean their business plan is in trouble.

JMan please stay away from schemes like this.

No Rebates

Post by kosh »

I don't trust rebates from any vendors, period. Think about it, why don't they just give you a discount when you pay at whatever stores you are buying from? But instead, you have to fill out a form to get your 'savings'.

The advantage for the companies are that they get your address and phone, which is bad enough. On top of that, it takes weeks and weeks to get the rebate. In our busy daily lives, many of us will forget about it after the weeks passed by. I bet they wish you'd forget about the rebate if they don't send you one!
And lastly, the worst thing about rebate is that if you don't get your rebate and want to contact them, it's very difficult if not impossible. Most of these companies are out of state, so it's not like you can pound on their doors. Since they get your money already, what do they care? I have had rebates that I never received, and my friends had rebates that were promised but never got.
I just don't trust rebates after losing money to enough of these companies.
