Star Trek Voyager Finale

Post by b-man1 »

thoughts?

i just finished watching it and give it a thumbs up. :)

it wasn't as good as TNG's final episode, but i thought it was about as good as a 2 hour special thingy can be to try and wrap up 7 years worth of storyline.

I thought it was excellent!! By far the best 2 hours of Star Trek I've seen in years (and that includes the last 2 movies). My only complaint is that it tried to do too much. They spend years getting 1/2 way back to the alpha quadrant only to be zapped there in a single episode. Kinda anticlimatic. But overall I was impressed with the ending.

Edit - I forgot to add that I'm really gonna miss 2 characters the most. 7of9 (obviously) and the doctor.

I was going to make my own thread, but I saw this one instead :)

I just got done watching it, and OH MY GOD!! To put it bluntly, that was the orgasm of my watching Voyager. I was literally on the edge of my seat for almost the entire episode. Nearly everything about it was flawless. I was confused throughout a lot it, but that only added to the entire package. The way EVERYTHING came together in the end was just awsome. There were surprises everywhere. I thought I could predict how things would happen from other Voyager episodes, but it didn't work. It completely caught me off guard. It's kind of hard to explain everything that was great. The directing, the character relations, the hilarious subtle things the crew did/said/expressed to each other, the new technolgies and special effects, especially the armor, that was soo sweet.
The way the borg just got trashed made me cheer out loud, I loved it. Finally they were the inferior beings. Seeing the Transwarp Condiut really made me think about the big picture with the Borg and what not. And how they have access to anywhere in the galaxy. But anyway, I'm going to stop babbling now, but I just wanted to get my point across that I thought this was the best thing I have watched in quite some time. Better than any movie I have seen a long time.

I'm also really looking forward to the new ST show coming this fall. Hurray, rejoyce for being a ST fan!

My only problem with the show was that the ending was waaaaaaaay to abrupt. It felt like they just cut off the last few minutes to have more commericals. There should've been a curtain call or something.

Yeah... I noticed that. It was like, "Welcome Home" and then credits started rolling.

Overall not a bad conclusion. However Star Trek Voyager was mediocre and the worst of the Trek series. You have recycled storylines and characters {ohh ohh I wanna explore my human side-pffft}.

The whole Star Trek franchise needs a break to rejuvenate itself. Unfortunately that won't be happening with a new Trek series to launch in the fall.

Gene Roddenberry must be hanging out with Jimi Hendrix and Tupac in releasing new material. Has anyone here ever watched that crap Earth: Final Conflict or Andromeda with that lunkhead Kevin Sorbo? <img src="http://sbp777777.homestead.com/files/puke.gif">

You know, even though I wasn't a BIG fan of this series, I am sorta curious about seeing how it turned out. I totally forgot the series finale was on last night.

Corn, if you could make another dupe for me I'd appeciate it....I can paypal you for the cost of tape at least. LMK. (PM me).

Voyager has really grown on me over the last 3 years. I went from "This show sucks" to "This isn't half bad". Deep Space Nine, on the other hand, was a great show to cure cases of insomnia.

I watched it and I liked it, I watched the first coupla seasons and I have watched this last season, and was kinda spotty in between. Voyager did not capture the imagination the way that OG or TNG did and did not have the depth of DS9 but was a decent show, it will be missed.

On another note I have seen people saying that TNG was superior to OG in every way and to them I can only say that you did not live in the time between the late 60's and mid to late 80's when the only decent sci-fi series to come out were The Six Million Dollar Man and Battlestar Galactica. I was so starved for sci-fi as a kid that I even watched Space 1999 (a bad show that was just b a d. Without the Original Series I would have starved ina sci-fi sorta way. I did not even watch the first 2 seasons of TNG because like many of the other OG loyalists, to watcch it was to betray the original. That was a bit overboard but still some of my fondest childhood TV moments involved the cast of the original series.

I enjoyed the finale thoroughly. I actually enjoyed most of the series. There were crappy episodes, but there were enough really good ones that I kept watching.

I think they wanted the ending to be abrupt. Voyager was all about 'the journey'. So when the journey ended, the show ended. I kind of thought it symbolic that they stopped right there.

Curtain calls would have been nice, though.

I agree that the ending was way too abrubt. There should have been something showing them in a celebration on Earth or something to that effect. I actually watched a bit more after the ending figuring there was more, but there wasn't.

Overall I enjoyed it. The verdict is still out on the next series tho.
