You get to pay extra (if you can even get it in your area) for Fox, NBC, CBS, and ABC. :( But on the plus side, you get Sci-Fi, History, Tech-TV as basic :D

but paying for your local channels is much cheaper than getting cable! Getting the basic cable package (local channels) here is $10 a month. Getting all the local channels on DSS is only $4.99!

If you've never used DSS, you'll absolutly love it.

Well, that and the picture on cable tv sucks major A$$. I have a few family members that even have "Digital Cable" OMG, what a POS that is. Crappy picture, and a bad implementation of a directTV setup. No Thanks.

Well i was interested in how much Digital Cable was about 6 months ago cause they keep advertising it as "half the price of DSS" Well the original package is only 29.95, but thats on par with what DSS basic package is? But to get all the channels that i get with the DirecTv platinum package with all the movie channels it turns out to be $90 for digital Cable! even more than what i pay for Digital Cable. I just said to the guy on the phone "Thats more than i pay for DSS" he just sat there silently and said nothing...i said no thanks..goodbye. Yuck.

I havent seen the picture though? Is it that bad?

My oh my, how timely this is...I will be getting my digital box in two weeks, and the reason....cuz my cable company is offering it to their 'VIP' members at 2 bucks LESS than I'm paying for all the 'tiers' I have. PLUS I get an additional internet connection free....(for my invisible 2nd computer....someday...someday)........so, I figured, wth, since it's actually CHEAPER than what I'm paying now....and if it sucks, least I didn't lose anything on it, but from what I am hearing from those in my area that have it...they LOVE it. (so possibly it depends on the cable service??)
Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. :D

The Digital cable I just got installed (Grande Communications) is alot better than the one I use to have (Time Warner). The lines are brand new tho, so that could have something to do with it. Digital cable really depepnds on the company.

i have cable for the net :)
i have dish network for tv -and it sucks compare to direct tv for were i live :( i have a lot of tall trees and my signal is always kinda blocked in the summer as soon as my year is up -back to direct tv for me there satellight is higher in the sky and the trees dont bother it as much in the summer -the fall and winter are no problem for eather and dish network offers more for less !
so if you are looking into a satellite system look around your yard and check for blockages dont get it the same problems as me :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help
