I hear that it is supposed to be an amazing movie, a real sleeper hit with nothing but good reviews. I will be renting it soon...

I heard the great reviews and I'm a HUGE fan of psychological thrillers so I blindly bought the DVD. Good thing too because you almost need to see this movie through a few times before it all makes sense.

I really liked this movie (saw it in the theater, worth every penny I spent to get to the special theater), unfortunatly, I think it's one of those movies you can only watch once to get that "really good movie" feel. I think if I see it again, I won't like it as much anymore. I almost went and bought the DVD hoping it had some deleted scenes or some cool extras, but no such luck. So that's one less movie for the DVD pile. Still think it is a cool movie.

I finally watched the DVD over the weekend and I must agree, it was a great movie. There are a few confusing parts, but overall very original and well made movie. It's pretty rare for a movie to make you more interested in how it starts then how it ends...

The extra feature that I didn't get to check out was to watch it in the "real" order it happened, maybe I'll rent it again someday...

Wow, Just saw memento yesterday, and it is AWESOME.

It is definitely a movie you can only enjoy once, maybe twice. It really kep me hooked and extremely interested. I kept guessing and trying to figure it out until the very end, a real brain-teaser.

My wife and I both thought that Leonard did it. At least for like 5-6 of the 'flashbacks' or whatever. We kept coming up with new theories. We both finally gave up once we went through 4-5 ideas each.

Why? Think about it, like Pulp fiction (in a way, which I liked for some odd reason), if it wasn't for the fact that the story was shown in a bizarre, un-natural, un-real order (backwords), it really wouldn't have had any decent plot at all IMO.

Imagine that same flick shown in the real, natural order and then think................SO? What's so special about it in itself?

Sorry but I wasn't impressed.

Memento would suck in normal order because it was made to be in reverse. It isn't a cheap trick or anything, it is integral to the proper flow of the plot devices and characters arcs.

That's what made the movie so good IMO (lots of other people seem to really like it as well)...

...........but my point is only that in itself (other than the movies backworks order), the movie had practically nothing of noteworthy interest IMO. OK, yeah......the guy can't remember ANYTHING ever but I don't think that even that's realistic of people with a head injury (amnesia) is it? I think those with amnesia still have short term memory, not a total "veg" like that guy was.

It is a real medical condition. If you damage your hippocampus badly, you lose your ability to form memories. It really does happen, and there really are people walking around who can only remember up to a certain date.

They originally learned that it was the hippocampus when they removed that part of the brain from some guy years ago. He had some brain disorder, or maybe cancer, and they just cut that part of his brain out. After surgery, he couldn't make new memories.
