Even though i have never read any of the books ( this is prob sacriledge) but i most impressed by this movie , probably one of the best i have seen for a very long time.
For 2 1/2 hours it never ever gets boring , the plot is very well executed and the special effects are fabulous , humour abounds everywhere making this a real joy for the whole family , yeah i do mean adults too ( put it this way i'm 36 :D ) , one warning this maybe a little scarey for younger children.
I went to the 10:10pm showing and did'nt get out of the cinema till 1:00am ,all of the other showings were sold out , there was also the full length 2min showing of Episode II The Attack of the Clones. If there is only one movie your going to see this year then Harry Potter has to be it ,it's that good - infact i intend to see again :D

I've heard $130 million myself spent on it , the young guy who played Harry got 300,000 english pounds for his role.

gazza, just noticed you're in louisa va, which is pretty close, i'm in shepherdstown, which although technically within the borders of the state of wv, appears to have a lot more confederates in the graveyards than yankees............ :)

ok.....I personally was nagged by my younger brother (whom is 12, and is in 7th grade) at least 50 times to take him to see this when it came out.......but I made arrangements to do other things. (I personally don't want to see it until it comes to video.....if even then.)

Anyway, getting to my point, I asked him what he thought of it (my mom took him) and he said the graphics were great, but he was VERY disappointed in the movie. He is a HARDCORE :w ow Harry Potter fan, has every book (has read each one at LEAST 20 times and has alot of them memorized........yet he can't memorize work for school  ......but I digress), he said ALOT of the book was changed or removed: characters changed around, important scenes removed, etc, etc (he went on for 20+ min on everything that was wrong with this movie.) He seemed to like how they took some elements from the book and brought them to life (SFX, etc), but he made the point SEVERAL times on how they neglected to do the same with the characters.

So keep this in mind before taking your kids.....they may not like it. (I bet it also could depend on how much of a fan they are........if they are a casual fan, they might like it..........if they are a very solid follower however, they may be disappointed.) )*

Just a little FYI.

(PS: I'm BETTING it is the top grossing movie this weekend, but give it a week or two and it will drop down and Monsters Inc or some other movie will grab back on to the #1 spot. Esp when word starts going around about the movie.)
